Congrats to US for gold, Canada for their hard-fought silver and Norway for the bronze! It was a hugely exciting competition and I am SO HAPPY for everyone! What a great team finale!!

Ya know…we were amazing with just three riders…what a perforamce…and USA?? well what a team…with Sapphire, Carlson, Authentic, Cedric being amazing…and of course HICKSTEAD for Horse of the YEAR!!![/QUOTE]

Yes! Given the circumstances we were AWESOME!!

No shame in losing to that bunch either.

Congrats to all.

The individual competition is going to be FIERCE!!

after watching McClain go - I said to myself - wow - good pick for the team. He’s been rock solid in team (like Beezie in Athens).

I am so crazy happy for them, damn it - it made me cry for godsakes! I am thrilled that North America took gold and silver.

Way to go Will - what a phenomenal ride. All of them really, just amazingly solid. GO USA!

So proud of Canada right now! Whooooooo! Silver!!!

And congrats to the USA of course, what a close race!

GOLD BABY GOLD! CONGRATULATIONS to Beezie, Laura, McLain and Will!!! Thanks for all the thrill rides!!! Congratulations to Team Canada too! WOW Can you tell I’m excited for everybody? LOL

Is this Ian Miller’s first olympic medal? If so, he deserves it after all this time. Such an amazing horseman and human being.

Didn’t mean to diss Canada by asking about their medals. I’ve ONLY been watching equestrian (and of course being bombarded with Michael Phelps) so I don’t know how any of the other events are going. What an awesome day for both team USA and Canada. What a tremendous showing from the horses and what great sports all of the riders are!

See, this is when COTH is so great…I’m just beside myself with how the USA rode, so happy for Canada. And I emailed my husband at work - and he pretty much thinks I’m crazy for being so worked up about all this. :0

WOW! It’s been a long time coming, for US and CA. Way to go! And, Norway, too.

Chalk up another milestone for GM - may he endure forever!

This is a very big deal for Canada. I am babbling to all my colleagues.

Michel Vaillancourt won an Individual Silver in Show Jumping on Branch County in 1976 and the Dressage Team won team bronze in 1988.

I don’t think there have been any others.

So a very big deal indeed!

All fingers and toes crossed for Eric and Hickstead for the individual.

I love McClain and Sapphire so much, but i was so disappointed that he did not wear the flag “sticker” on his helmet, nor did he have his hand on his chest during the national anthem…Will did. What’s going on McClain, please…please I hope that was an oversight.

 Yep, Ian’s first medal at the olympics after 9 years. TOTALLY deserved it!!

eh, that goes 50-50 in just about any sporting event and about half the time I am at an event and the anthem plays, I’ll look around and be in the minority with my hand on my heart. I wouldn’t make too much of it unless maybe he whips out the black panther fist salute at teh ind medal ceremony. Then hysteria can reign once again.

I wondered about the flag but then again I think we should have the big flag motif sticker on the GPA speed airs like Norway and Germany. Maybe he is just a purist, because every time I bring that opinion up all the die hard traditionalists have a cow at the thought of competing in anything other than a traditional black helmet. Maybe McLain is one of those?

I didn’t know that I could get goosebumps and tears at the same time. What an incredible finish.

Maybe, just maybe, he has sponsorship from a different helmet company.

I did not like the sponsor patches on some of the team’s jackets. Perhaps for regular competition, but at the Olympics- please. It looked the worse on the dressage shadbellies. All elegant with a big honkin Pikeur logo…

Clearly, he hates America.

Wow, I didn’t realize that, he definitely deserves it, I am very happy for him.

sponsorhip could be the issue, but it looked like everyone was in a GPA, but who knows?

Mags, I agree - I thought the dressage coats for Germany were um, a bit over the top, like maybe you might have to work harder to keep your left side up and even it was so weighted down from sponsorship patches!
