Opening a tack store

My one thought if you were to go ahead with are “hours of operation”.

I am a knitter/crocheter and love to frequent “Local Yarn Shops” which tend to be boutiquey and I also love to check out local tack stores that I don’t know.

My biggest complaint is common for both, the hours of operation often preclude my patronage. I tend to work 9-5/6ish… and alot of these places close at 6 during the week. Hard to spend the money if you can’t make it in.

Love the idea of doing a small section in your sister’s store to start off and really recommend having an awesome website. Even if you don’t sell directly from it, I often like to see what there is to see if a trip in is even worth it.

Exactly why I just changed our hours Thurs, Fri, Sat until 7pm. I may begin to include Wednesday but we don’t get a lot of late traffic in the summer months here.

I think today you have to be either really high end and cater to the WEF type crowd and go to the shows or you have to be cut-throat and do high volume and sell also on the web. I shop for price on many items that I know I can buy on the web and save money. I shop for higher end things mostly at the big shows where I can try the stuff on. We have a Dover where I live and many of us don’t shop there on a regular basis. You can buy the stuff on the web for a few dollars cheaper, free shipping and no sales tax.
