Opinions on joint supplements?

I had 2 horses who were on oral joint supplements got sick in their teens (different years) and had to come off of all supplements for several months. When I started riding them lightly they started out stiff and warmed out of it. Once I put them back on their joint supplements after ~10 days both came out of the barn without any stiffness. One had been a low level eventer (he was on SmartPack Senior) and the other a GP Dressage horse (he was on Hylasport) - both had mild arthritis. I’m convinced it helps if there is a mild issue.

It seems that Cosequin or Adequan are the ones that would be most likely to work. Could the adequan be used as a preventive measure? I’ve actually never used it, how often is a single dose of the adequan injected?

I don’t know if there is any research on this. Contact the manufacturer and ask them. Then report back.
