Oprah Show
I am surprised by such vitriol against Oprah. Horsewomen are usually strong and independent. I would’ve at least expected some props given for her tremendous accomplishments against some serious odds. Even if you disagree with her opinion on some matters.

IMHO, over the years she has developed a bit of an ego(how could she not), likes to hear herself speak a little too much for me, so I don’t watch so much anymore. But jeez, she is one hella of a self-made woman, and she’s got my respect.

Glad the USET gold medal winners got to be recognized on a highly viewed show!
Excellent post:)

Good one, Theo! :lol::lol::lol::lol:

An Idea.

Why don’t those who want to watch the Olympians on Oprah Monday do so;
and those who don’t want to watch anything on Oprah tune her out?

I think the OP posted so that people would know that the Olympians would be on Oprah, if anyone wanted to watch them and see if the Equestrians will be interviewed.

I’d like to see the horses on the show. Horses have been on Martha (altho at her farm with Conan so funny riding one, and on Letterman (on the street outside) riding a horse. Too bad the horses won’t be on Oprah.

My 7 Degrees of Oprah

Oprah brought herself and several of her staff to a stable I worked at in the late 80s.
They came for lessons in the evenings and Oprah rode a horse belonging to a friend of mine*.
Shortly after she purchased her farm in LaPorte, IN and had horses there.
I have no idea if she still rides and I beleive the farm is for sale.

Anyone want an autograph? {kidding!}

*Mary R - it was your Cisco graced by Herself’s butt

Again, this horse-related board isn’t the place to debate the relative merits of Oprah. Please restrict commentary to horse-related aspects of our Olympic equestrians’ appearance on her show.

Thanks!

Laura and Will sure looked like they were having a blast as Oprah was calling them all in:D That must have been so fun for them to meet all the other olympians since they weren’t able to stay in the Olympic Village. Nice job Oprah!

Its a shame that only a few of the sports were really mentioned during the show… I understand that they have to cater to the masses, but it seems a little sad to have all of those people sitting on the stage for an hour while Oprah only talks to the few who everyone already knows the most about anyway.

:sigh: I bet you Laura, Gina and Will were happy they weren’t interviewed I know I wouldn’t want to be… This was for them not for equestrian sports, they got to meet all those famous olympians what a treat… I bet they had a blast.:yes:

Did she support Obama ?Theo
More like, “does she support Obama?” and YES.

From what I read on the news, she does NOT want to have Sarah Palin on her show… WTF? You’d think an empowered woman would want to celebrate another empowered woman… nope.

OOPS, misssed the mods comment…
ETA,
even if they had interviewed the equestrians on the show, I doubt i would have even recorded it on the DVR. ods of seeing horse stuff <0

She didn’t have Hillary on her show this year either and she explained that she has never publically supported a politician before and since she is now she thought it best not to have all the candidates on like she has in the past.

All I can say !

WOW it seems you ladies up here are very Catty today? What is wrong here are you all PMS’ing at the same time. I mean for none of you to even know Oprah and to have these types of opinions is very weird? I mean she has more money than any of you ever will and yet you are trashing and discussing her like she is a criminal. Get over it. Like the Modinator said… keep to the topic please. :o

MODINATOR!!!

Wow I see some of us can not voice our opinions here but yet others can.
talk about showing your true colors. whatever. now i see how this board is ran / operated. just a observation :wink:

Our Canadian equestrian medalists have been invited on some big TV shows in Canada. Apparently they are not doing any media. There was a thread running EMG but it got shut down (like so much does on EMG). Some people seemed pretty annoyed at their attitude. I mean, it’s not just about them. The whole industry stands to benefit.

I’m glad to hear that Laura and Will took part. I’m not an Oprah watcher either, but it’s not about that. It’s about getting the sport whatever exposure a medal can get it.
