Orphan Res Foals

That video just makes me smile. It’s calming, like watching a fish tank.

My boy Jake decided to step in to visit with the foals before his bath time (good thing it was before and not after with that dusty role). He is smitten with them! He will be their stand in Uncle to show them the ropes.

Good Boy Uncle Jake. What a nice gentleman you are.

The clacking is so sweet.

All that clacking. <3

So much clacking! I’ve been letting different horses in next to them to see who they are most responsive with and Jakes the man. If Kinda Kookys boy was staying longer I would put him in with them. Hes just a gem! I have to get a video of him with them :joy: he starts clacking back!

And overall how is the herd of Minions doing?

I know the vet gave the thumbs up…but how was the CBC panel? Are they continuing to thrive? Where is the fourth? You realize it has been…4 days since your last update?

(I know you have an actual life with real tasks outside of updating us web strangers…but come on they are so cute!)

They are so sweet. Love all the baby clacking and Uncle Jake is a doll.

First of all, Jake is fabulously handsome. Wow!

Second, I concur with the clacking sentiments. I think as horsewomen we can’t help but find it disarming. “I’m a baby. Please, Mr. Big Horse, don’t hurt me.”

They are little loves! Their blood work came back good overall. Little Mo (tiny guy with the big white blaze) needs to get retested in a month to check his liver. He’s the youngest… I was told things might just work themselves out but we will retest to be on the safe side. We had unexpected rain today so they look a little scruffy :joy: anxiously waiting for their little fly masks to come in!

They are officially eating milk pellets and stretching up in height. @Displaced_Yankee the fourth (Mo) probably had his head in a bucket eating milk pellets!

Jake is a stunner… I got him on the thin side and have him looking like a quarter horse now :joy: he retired off of the track last July at the age of TEN. Just adore him. He has Alydar, Gone West,Bold Ruler back back in the bloodlines :joy: he was a massive nipper but we are on the other side and he now loves grooming, hugs and being nice haha

Pretty sure that Alysheba was the first horse I ever fell in love with. Probably because that was the first Kentucky Derby I ever watched and I had not yet convinced my parents to get me regular riding lessons. He wasn’t as nearly as good as Alydar, but still pretty impressive. And while I never got to see Alydar race, I do remember writing a paper in middle school about his impact as a stallion compared to Affirmed. We had at least one barn cat named Alysheba (not a horse farm, sadly. My childhood self is still a bit salty about that). And the following year, there was a calico named Winning Colors…

Jake is gorgeous and I love all the babies clacking at him.

(And to anyone who saw this pre-edit, it’s been a long day so please excuse me for getting Alydar and Alysheba confused

I just want to take some home with me…but I don’t have the funds or room for more. I’m at capacity but gosh my heart says go get them anyway. But it would be 15-17 hours which is a long time in a trailer.

My colt has a bright pink fly mask. I think it’s mini sized but it fits.

Here he is racing… he’s constantly trying to get the yearlings to race :joy: it’s a VERY unfair race. I owned a TB whose grandpa was affirmed and although I loved him so much, Jake is just the coolest. Alydar did well! I’ll have to look up Alysheba racing!

@4horses is it a long ride if you take two? :joy: roadtrips with friends are a breeze! Plus these babies aren’t going anywhere until they are “weaned” from my baby obsession :joy: maybe you will be ready then!

My sister’s wonderful ammy adult hunter (long since retired and living out his life in a lush pasture somewhere in Washington) was sired by Gone West. He was, and still is, a gorgeous horse and a total character. Always into something, yet never nasty or mean spirited.

He is the same way! Well after he decided he didn’t have to nip anymore. I do think that was from years at the track. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Gone West offspring

Kinda Kooky is going to have to pry her boy out of my hands! Poor guy dealt with an infection around the cord where he was castrated. He just got back from a weekend stay at the vet! Poor K. Kooky. His spirit is up and he radiates joy as he was brought back here. PLUS he was given two babies to love and boy does he LOVE them. He is one of a kind  The boy is an absolute champ. He stood calmly for steroid shots, he lets me cold hose his sheath without a fuss. We have been avoiding the pickup date topic because we don’t want him to leave! :joy:

He looks so happy but I’m sure Kinda Kooky can’t wait to meet him in person and love on his sweet soul.

I’m sure! I can’t wait to follow his progress too…he’s definitely baby like clumsy :joy: but I’ve been walking him to keep swelling down and he is pretty unflappable. He might pause and then you talk and he proceeds. He hasn’t shown signs of being explosive at all or reactive. He’s lovely and she is going to be totally thrilled to have her bleached out buckskin :joy:

That’s a really pretty photo, both the colors and the composition. Just so peaceful and sweet!

OH oh oh. This is too cute. I miss my baby horses. There was that time in my life. I do have to say my family put up with me doing 4 foals.

@MNick You’ve got a good heart :revolving_hearts:

ETA: what are you going to do with Jake!
