Orphan Res Foals

You know…at the end of the day I’m just grateful there’s a solution to this horrible situation. I will not be involving an attorney and although there’s tons of thoughts that are going through my head as I process. I’m choosing to focus on the fact that I have access to a great vet and Bruno is still “smiling” despite everything.

As for the quality of life, these kids are pretty excited to have a “forever” mom, who stepped up when no one else did. Like I said, it’s just kinda a horrible situation.

@endlessclimb adding my link below :grimacing: I guess we could say the same for me about planning for emergencies :joy: sudden unfortunate event kinda deal! I have zero expectations for anyone to donate! I’ve been so overwhelmed with just the affirmation from people! https://gofund.me/aab080e8

I have a follow up tomorrow and I’ll find out the fun part, cost. I do have access to care credit if all else fails.

I felt compelled to send a dribble. Give your Bruno some love and give the sweet foals a snuggle.

I so appreciate you grabbing video of Theo.

You choosing to take him on was the most relieving thing after seeing how scared he was there. It’s just so cool to see him now. Still learning but totally different horse!

Thank you so much for thinking of Bruno! I’ll be sure to post updates tomorrow!

Just a little Bruno sweetness… he’s raised a lot of babies :joy:

Uncle Handsome Guy (not the new name :joy:) contributed his blanket allowance to Bruno because he loves him, too.

He’s going to dip into his saddle college fund if necessary to help his friend.

Oh geez, the baby piglet is adorable and Bruno is such a good boy!

Sent you a little from my boy Obi… who would probably try to carry the piglet around in his mouth. :grimacing:

The last few days have been a ROLLERCOASTER. I can not get over this :sob: the support the check-ins. You all are amazing! Thank you every one so so much! If anyone is comfortable messaging me their names so I can personally thank you! I’m just totally floored, yet moved!

I have his appointment today at 3pm and will post an update.

@Paint_Party he gets a scolding for walking around with kittens in his mouth :joy: sounds like he would enjoy Obi haha he’s a massive butt licked which drives me INSANE!

I let my pet pigs Peter and Ginger (still in Hawaii) have a litter of pigs and my dogs were in heaven. I found pet homes for all of them. I’m not a vegetarian but I don’t eat what I meet :joy:

@Kinda_Kooky HANDSOME might be his NAME :joy: He may be an old kind soul but he is vein! He was peeking over the gate talking to Jake and I said “hi handsome” I’ll be damned, that boy turned back and looked at me with his ears perked and looking like a calendar cover model :joy:

To anyone who might plan a trip to Maui! My parents have an adorable cottage that is a vacation rental on the northshore of the island (Haiku). I would be happy to connect you with them for a discounted rate (seasons do change pricing). They have not one bad review and have repeat guests that book when they leave. Hawaii is expensive but I would love to extend that if it helps anyone traveling!

Silly Lilly and our foster pup Bacardi sent their treat allowance to Bruno.

Heal quickly Bruno, you’re needed to help raise wee ones.

Thank you so much, everyone! He is finally in a protective sling :grimacing: the vet was a bit shocked that wasn’t done by the first vet considering the break but he now has better support…which means bulky and uncomfortable. He is VERY anxious to get out to the horses so the next 2 months will be a blast!

They cleaned the open wounds today and he was not thrilled but is now padded up with comfort and sleeping sweet.

During the surgery they will be putting a plate on the radius and a plate on the Ulna. Because he is SO active they are opting to keep him in a splint for the first two weeks. He is going to be on trazodone for the first two weeks to keep him very mellow. No movement for two weeks :grimacing: and light light light walking after until the first 4 weeks are over. The final cost is $3700 which could be worse, could be better :joy:

If anyone owns an Aussie…how do I keep sane while trying to keep him quiet?! :joy:

When is surgery? I’m surprised that they are waiting… Do they seem confident that they can perform the procedure well?

Its driving me insane that they are waiting but its the soonest they can get him in. They said he will make a complete recovery with the plates in place :raised_hands: Bruno gets dropped off Tuesday at 8am and the surgery is 2pm. Pickup Wednesday morning.

Oh, wow. They don’t consider this an emergency? is there another practice that you can use?

Will be thinking of you both.

Not an aussie, but I had to keep my heeler mix quiet for a week. Loads of meds, including pain meds and frozen treats for the brain. I froze all her food in ice cubes, and then spread them out during the day. She was so zoned out I didn’t feel comfortable giving chews, but I would have.

It was rough, even on 300 MG of trazadone and 225 MG of gabapentin 2x a day. Don’t let them short you on meds. Its very much needed.
