OTTB - what is going on here in the sacro?

I got some video of her today, she looks sound at the trot and in the back. The more I talked to the owner, the more I liked her.

She was bought cough sight unseen.

Yes, we’re going to need current photos! And continuing updates, of course.

This reference jumped out at me because I think I’ve heard it before—maybe in one of the Jeanine McMullen books that I’ve read a thousand times. I think she named one of her whippet pups this as well. Was Ginger Meggs a person I should have heard of? Asking as an ignorant American!

Ginger Meggs is an Australian cartoon strip about a redheaded troublemaker. Our version of Dennis the Menace.

The previous owner has been sending me the most adorable videos of our new ginj ninj. She’s put on heaps of condition since they acquired her, and is well thought of in terms of her attitude. I had my bodyworker take a look at some photos and she is super excited to do a bit of a ā€œbefore and afterā€ with her.

I found a race video of her, she led wire-to-wire over 1200m and won easily. I’ll upload it once I can.

Winning at Ipswich

I have to eat my earlier words - it appears that there is a dorsal stripe (or at least a colour-gutter) visible when the mare is clipped / rugged. She is a much darker, richer red colour now and no stripe is visible.

She’s arrived! Very quiet for a young TB. Interested, but not too bothered by much. Very sweet though. Smoochy. Has adorable fluffy ear tufts like a possum.

Covered in birdcatcher spots. Needs a heap of weight on, and has a bit of a capped hock. Wormed, and tomorrow will start on a course of omeprazole. Welcome to the family, uh…. No name.

Congratulations to you both! She has a sweet face and I agree the ear tufts are adorable. I look forward to watching your progress.

She may have already named herself… Smoochy?

Completely different to her racing colour of light tan.

I’m leaning towards Aoife ā€œEe-fa’ extra horseā€. A bit of a shoutout to my Irish-heritage redheaded mum.

Yes, now she looks more nutmeg vs. curry or cinnamon in color.

Glad she arrived safely and that she seems to be on the laidback side.

Hell…. When you order a plod off Wish, and you end up with a chestnut giant. That’s my 16.1 OTTB she’s dwarfing…

We called her Aoifa after all. ā€œE fo’ expensiveā€
