I pulled the trigger and purchased it It’s currently back ordered on SmartPak but that way if I’m not happy with it, I can simply return it.
@Mac123 - good to know about the Pessoa because that was the other one I was looking into but didn’t feel like spending the extra money and wanted to try the cheapest option first.
I consider the “middle price” options to be the Aramas and the Nunn Finer Caterina that I linked to earlier. Both of those are closer to $300 (some places list the Caterina at $350 but most have it for more like $315) and both are carried by places that periodically have discount offers that let you save around 20%. I’ve owned both and like both.
I wish the Dover store had had an Aramas, because that’s actually my first choice! My local tack store back home carried them, but I think they’re a little harder to find?
Aramas are beautiful bridles. The leather is very supple. They oil up well too. I have two and like them better then my edgewood and beval bridles. They only thing to remember is they run large.
I just bought one too (with a gift card!), in oversize, sounds like maybe the same one based on the cost. I don’t like that they added a piece to cover the buckle on the nose band. It is stiff even after oiling. The one keeper is sewn close so it is very hard to put the end through it…The brow band isn’t the greatest fit either, not flush against his head. I have had other Ovations that were better quality.
