Owning vs. Taking Lessons - what would you do? (update: I bought him, added a pix!)

Thank you WildLittleWren, I think he is so handsome!

So far, he’s been great. Obviously, his fitness and muscle tone need some work so trying to build his muscle up correctly. He has been getting stronger and moving better, so that’s the good news. He is very willing and tries hard to do what is asked…very fun and willing to jump. I admit, I am a bit overly nervous - he was a bit sluggish yesterday, and I definitely over thought it and cut our ride short. Probably didn’t need to do that, but since I just got him, now I’m super worried about breaking him. It reminds me when I was a new mom and was worried I was going to damage my baby somehow!

Congrats, he looks like a sweet guy.
(and thanks for the explanation of the nerf gun. I was like, whoa that’s a weird training method  )

haha! He was such a good boy on halloween - we had some barn games and I had probably ridden him a half dozen times at that point, and we managed to win 2 of the games and come in 2nd in another (and we had good competition - rider and horse that compete in Big Eq classes and >1M jumpers, another horse is an ex Grand Prix horse, etc., so it wasn’t just me vs. little kids, haha) I was pretty pleased with how well he handled all of it. Obstacle course was a bit scary for him, and I think we were nearly last, but he is a horse that needs to look and sniff at stuff and then he is fine. Seriously for a green horse, this guy is really good!
