Pature Hay

Late to the party but I have been using hay huts for probably the past 10 years. There are 6-7 horses in each pasture and after a couple of rounds of musical windows everyone settles down since there are 8 windows. Good for round bales or throwing flakes or setting bales inside. My guys eat the hay down to the ground.

It’s made of 2 sides and the halves could be individually fastened to the side of a building to contain the hay.

Bale huts do a nice job if horses don’t get rough rubbing on them, knocking them over.

Tall horses may rub out manes on window tops, reaching in. Just know it may leave a ratty neck, before you start moaning about lost hair.

Regarding the photo…are there a lot of people that don’t bother to remove netting from roundbales?

I do not know anyone who does not remove the netting form their round bales.

I would guess the photo is just an example photo, or they remove the netting (by cutting it) once the hut is in place to keep the round bale from falling apart.
