Killing horses, whether for insurance money or not, as well as promoting and involvement in dog fighting, is just plain wrong. No amount of explaining, nor blaming someone else, or saying it was because of one’s own background can defend these acts to me.

I don’t care if PV trains well or not, nor do I care about MV’s value to a football team. They both made decisions to harm, maim and kill animals for profit.

Alter is trying to rationalize his actions, which is usually a sign that one knows one has done wrong, and is trying to justify it to alleviate guilt.

I wonder how many French Bulldogs Marion Hulick has had killed, or maybe there is not enough money involved. She has a handler and is on the circuit. I have passed out Hot Blood to some of the handlers so they are aware.

So I wonder now just whar all the others are doing with their lives???

I have Frenchies showing and am appalled that she is involved with dogs. My guess is most people don’t know…or care about her “past” and one of her handlers has horses!

Okay, this may be opening old wounds, but what is the latest on the “Hot Blood” crew trying for reinstatement. Personally, I hope they are out for life, but it seems like a bad penny, and PV, BW and crew keep turning up.

War Admiral, you usually have you finger on the pulse of this and have done a good job keeping the petitions going . . . have they been banned for life yet?

Sorry, but I must confess I’ve been paying not the slightest bit of attention - probably I should be, but have been re-routed onto Planet Baby Greenie which is taking up most of my time!

But if there’s any new info requiring attention I’m always up for a quick PM.

I was at a barn the other week and there was a flyer on the wall advertising a clinic with him. Scary.
If its the same place I heard about I was disgusted to hear about that as well. Especially since the resident trainers past isnt squeaky clean either. Pretty ballsy to keep rolling with the crowd…

I just noticed this thread was back on the front page and began reading for nostalgia, and caught this little piece - and had to comment:

If you think your PM’s were harrassing, try being on the opposing side and receiving PM’s that were more along the lines of “the business side” of PV and his “partners”.

I’m sure PV and all the others are wonderful as long as you support them - try opposing them and see what turns up - something, perhaps, unexpected…

I have typed, erased, typed again, erased…and the truth is, nothing I have to say will alter any person’s mind who has decided that they can compartmentalize this man’s actions and his talent. Anyone capable of rationalizing his behavior because of his talent is just as frightening as he is, in my opinion.

The last point I wish to address is the “competing fair” comment: I should not be, but I am STUNNED that you have even used this phrase - the very actions you take - riding with a man banned from competition, exempts you from competing fairly - you have taken yourself out of that category by virtue of riding with PV. YOU, anthem35, do not get to discuss fair competition until you actually engage in it as such!

So I haven’t read this whole thread but I have a question.

There is a trainer in Wellington who bought a farm adjoining the WEF showgrounds because he was banned after killing horses for insurance. Now he can still train people during the shows, technically. But is this PV or someone else?

WOW, stuck a nerve slainte! What crowd, the horse killer crowd? You’re right, we don’t socialize in that crowd, but you must…

We will ALL continue talking about it! Not only on the Chronicle, but we will write the USEF, and sign petitions… or do whatever else that is legally within our power.

Platinum Equestrian, I too think it’s VERY important to keep yacking about. I also think it’s VERY important to keep letting the USEF know your thoughts. As soon as it’s forgotten, it’s swept under the carpet and that’s where it should NEVER be.

Ditto!

Tegan,

Since you obviously don’t socialize in this crowd - it doesn’t pertain to you, now does it?

Paul Valliere and Barney Ward will continue to train horses and riders until the day they die. If you have a problem with that - write to USEF, not the Chronicle BB.
Very interesting response. Quite rude, bitchy, and unnecessary. Anymore out of you, and I’ll start assuming you are more than just a “fan”

I agree that we can never forget. I think the reason this strikes such a chord for many of us is not only the crime, but the continued flaunting of the suspensions. Had they accepted the punishment, shown remorse, and done something else for the time period to prove they’ve changed their ways, I don’t know that people would be so resistant. People love to forgive the penitent.

But the fact that they’ve actually continued on with business as usual, prospered, and never admitted that they did any wrong, just grates. There are too many people doing business honestly that to watch these people prosper without admitting what they did is wrong is maddening.

I disagree, I think it pertains to every one involved with horses.
