Peeing in the Trailer
I use lots of bedding. It keeps pee from spraying my ankles - oh wait- you meant the horse. :)

A lot of horses (mine) pee just before being fed when they hear the grain being scooped…can you try timing it with a little bit of grain in his bin?

Or the fact of loading triggers his pee response, so you may get him to pee if you do not hurry his loading.

Also, they will often pass manure after loading - sort of a nervous response.
I had one that would pass liquid on loading, yet was normal every other time -
they all have different reactions regarding potty habits, as yours does, but maybe by thinking about it you could change his habits?

Or, just put in shavings, and forget about it.

My gelding is on turnout 24/7.

EVERY.TIME I yell for him and have a halter and leadrope, he will stop and pee, and then run to me at the gate.

I’m thinking he doesn’t like to be ridden on a full bladder

It could be worse… He could be like my mare, who pees right against the butt bar (she has at least a foot between her chest and the breast bar, but…) so that it sprays everywhere, including all over her back.
