Pin oak horse show 2023

It’s got to be the nerves! :weary::weary:

Thank you all for such positive words!!! Now….if you know of someone who wants a care lease on a super sweet OTTB with lots of potential, and loves to jump…let us know! We need to get him off the bill for a little while so we can get this pony some extra training rides to gain their confidence back!

He’s her step up for when she’s done with her pony….but we have more goals to accomplish before that happens!

Were there other horses and ponies in the ring during the schooling session on Friday?

For a green one, it can be much more scary when they have to go out in the ring alone without any buddies. Especially the first few times.

Hmm…yes, there were. That’s def a good thought…not something I’ve thought of before. We plan to do some schooling shows before we go back to another rated show…but treat it as if it’s a rated show….try to go in for the course with minimal schooling, just like what will be expected of her in the division.

Pin oak did not offer a warm up round…only a ticketed schooling the evening before. At this point-she definitely needs that warm up round.

A lot of kids will do an equitation class as a warm-up before their hunter classes. Even if they’re not interested in the equitation class for its own sake.

Sometimes the course for the equitation class can be a little more demanding, but it’s still a chance to get in the ring and jump the jumps before the hunter classes.

The 2nd in the u/s is a very good sign! The judge liked your daughter and her pony.

actually anytime you are presenting the horse/pony it should be treated as if it where the World Championship… it is best to have it prepared to the nines. Then when it really counts it is not a big deal.

It looks like she’s having fun with friends, which is fantastic, especially on the days when things don’t go according to plan.

Thank you for sharing the pictures!

That’s from an over fences class. She still has the martingale on.

I’m assuming this picture is mislabeled (and pony looks great!) but just in case, it’s wearing a martingale which is not ok in a flat class.

Do you have any video of her schooling rounds from Friday?

Oops! You are right! Must have been moments before she was excused from the ring. LOL

I also had a difficult green pony that could misbehave come show day. We had a bigger more experienced kid show him in schooling ponies or something before I did for a few shows and it worked wonders.

I qualified and did PF later that year and sold the pony!

Yes! It is mislabeled.
