Pinhooking Zayats . . .

I don’t see how it could have been a “sudden decision”. Entries for the Fasig sale close in the fall. Though it is possible depending on the person and the horse/s to get in after the closing date. Rarely months later.

“turf writers didn’t have a hint of the forth coming decision is quite telling”

Well, most people don’t exactly give “press releases” as a matter of course about their business plans.

The author saying “Zayat Stables, known more for racing than selling” makes me think she isn’t well versed on the topic. Zayat has been selling horses for years. They have “pinhooked” a few years off and on over the years. Most were not very successful from the limited research time I put into it.

While on the topic of 2 year old in training sales. This horse was the sales topper at the 2016 Fasig sale. $1.8 million. Not a “pinhook” it was offered as a yearling at the Keeneland September sale. RNA for $1.2 million.

A quote from the agent that signed the ticket;

"David Ingordo, who signed the ticket on behalf of the purchasing partnership, spoke to the colt’s appeal: “He was a good horse. That’s what they cost. And the people who bought him are thinking long-term as a stallion.”

The horse was bought for a racing partnership of Woodford Racing a division of Lanes End farm and Bob LaPenta. Ingordo “works” for Lanes End

In another related article last year after the sale it was stated that the horse was going to be trained by Chad Brown. Everyone’s darling these days.

While doing some research I checked to see what this now 3 year is up to. The horse is named South Beach but no trainer or owner, no “works” are listed.
