That’s too bad. I belong to the FB group and I know for some people it just never seems to work. I wonder if it’s faulty AI?
Aftershokz Openmoves I got from Costco. They are bone conductive so that I can still hear my surroundings. No issues fitting them with my helmet as they go around the back of the neck.
I vastly prefer them to having to do the single in ear headphone which I had done previously.
I think I would like those better as well. they would be good for listening to lessons online.
I would be happy to try to help. I use it every day. Love it. What kind of phone are you using ?
@Pippigirl mine don’t have the protruding microphone arm. I would not want to ride with something like that sticking out in front of my face. Mine are similar to these https://shokz.com/products/openmove
Can I pm you?
Pivo silver is here! I got it working and recorded some groundwork and of me riding.
If it is tracking does that also mean it is recording?
Do you use the remote control? Do you know if ‘capture picture’ mean it will take a still shot at that moment then continue recording?
Super exciting!
No, it can track while not recording. I like to check it’s tracking properly before I start recording.
Yes, to start and stop recording.
I recommend you use it to track yourself and experiment that way. When I first got it, I took it into my backyard to play around with it and get the hang of how it works.
I call my Pivo “artificially stupid” because it sure as heck isn’t artificially intelligent. I always ride my dark bay horse in white boots, a white saddlepad, and light colored breeches/top when taking a virtual lesson. It constantly loses us and can’t successfully follow when placed at E on a 20x40 m dressage arena. It’s not practical for me to have it at X in the arena as recommended by the company. Also, Pivo has a bajillion apps and little meaningful direction on which one is best in what situations. We find it works best if we use it in conjunction with a human Pivo-babysitter, which somewhat defeats the purpose.
I had a Pixel3 when I first got my Pivo Silver, and it didn’t work very well. Once it followed me for about 3 seconds, then fixed on the open arena door and wouldn’t start tracking me again for anything. I finally installed the newer app and paired it with my Pixel7 and it seems to be working much better. It took a 32 minute video from ring center and only lost me once when I changed directions. I need to adjust the angle/height of the tripod since it doesn’t adjust camera angle like my SoloShot (which recently died), and a few times the video got hitchy, but overall it’s good for the price point.
Apparently, I’m one of the few on the planet who is happy with SoloShot. I have a 2 and a 3, both work great.
FYI, you can likely get your SoloShot rebuilt.
When I lived in New Jersey and PA, there was off and not enough open sky for Soloshot to work too many trees, too many hills to many buildings. Also, the set up for Soloshot two is a pain in the butt. I see that three seems to work better, but until they make it waterproof, it’s a pain to worry about mist/rain.
Yes, I’ve been very happy with my SoloShot as it lasted five years. They quoted me $650 to replace the battery, which is the main problem, and also upgrade to the new system for the lens. Not bad, but not really in my budget at the moment.
Tried Pivo outside today. It tracked me for a little bit, and then decided it was easier to fix on a horse in a pen near the arena. I think it will work if I just ride in a circle at the end of the arena when no horses are turned out, but that is pretty limiting. Otherwise, seems it is only going to work in the indoor where it won’t catch sight of other horses.
I have owned and loved SoloShots (2 and 3) since 2014. I got a Pivo a few years ago and also love it. The SoloShot is far superior in video quality, tracking and zoom. But when I am in a hurry and do not necessarily want to save the video or grab screen shots, I use the Pivo. The Pivo is jerky, grainy, uses up my phone memory, quits if I forget to put it on airplane mode, and loses me for at least a period of time every ride. However, as they say – the best camera is the one that you will use. For quick training ride playbacks, I grab the Pivo.
Has anyone tried Pivo Max yet ? I am tempted but not sure I really need to upgrade.
