Polar vortex whine. How are you coping?

60 degree nights?!?

That sounds heavenly right now. I would love a 60 degree night. That’s prime open window or hammock sleeping!!! Instead I’ve got three blankets, an anxiety ridden dog and two asshole cats.

COME ON, SPRING!!!
Forget nights, I would take a 60 degree DAY. Of course, right now that would cause a massive meltdown with all the problems that would create :frowning:

Pardon me for tease-posting and disappearing, but it is a long trip from Winter Hell to Big Island Bliss
The rain blew out before we arrived and it is your standard issue blue sky, 78 degrees and a light breeze off the ocean. I’ve had a massage and lunch by the beach, and I haven’t even been here 15 hours yet.
Meanwhile my two lovely college girl spring break riders are apparently enjoying fetching my ponies out of the ice bound fields and riding in the indoor. It’s amazing what being horse-deprived will do for you…

Asterix! This is for you.

My SO grew up on Oahu and his parents (still there) have been complaining bitterly on FB every day about the 60-something degree nights. Rough life . . .
That is where I grew up too and most of my family is still there…this is the time of year that I really wonder why I left!!!

Riding with Jimmy Wofford tomorrow…and even that hasn’t gotten me over my funk of HATING this cold weather!!!

Astrix…there is no place to hide…we will all just have to come join you

It was -30 this morning when I went out to the barn. The arena at my moms is still forzen from flooding, hopefully it goes above 0 tomorrow as promised and the arena can thaw out!

I am SO over this!

High of 37 today… about 1/8th of my ring doesn’t have snow on it. It is frozen solid right now, but maybe we can go around a few circles this afternoon.

Then they are calling for a “wintry mix” again tonight into tomorrow morning. Looks like two days of warm sun this weekend though. Fingers crossed it sticks around. Next week looks wet in the best case scenario and snowy and icy in the worst.

I usually LOVE winter. I moved back from LA because I missed winter, but this year, I have had it. I just had to put more oil in the tank to heat the house, we are almost out of wood for the wood stove, and my ring is still ice/snow covered. There are a few paths where I can see dirt–frozen dirt–but I am not going to bother sitting on my horse until the footing is good. At this point, no competitions, it is just piddling around on my 22 year old retiree until I get another greenie. I am so over this winter.

Bringing this back from the dead because… the first day of spring is today. But it is supposed to snow next week. I don’t want to play anymore! :frowning:

Yeah, first day of Spring. We got about 8 inches of snow last night  On top of the 3 feet that was already on the ground. My barn doesn’t have an indoor either, thank God for snowmobile trails, the only currently rideable surface!

How am I coping?

Whine and wine!!

I MIGHT be spring, but it is snowing and blowing here :(.

Winter - take your white fluffy toys and cold an go away. Now.
