Pony Finals 2015

Some one posted this and I think it’s funny. Ponies are the way they are because they are closer to Hell. Hahaha

I wonder what is down there too, LOTS of issues even with very experienced ponies. Last year it wasn’t a problem really though they always look at the tent and all the activity there. Seemed last year to be more of a problem down the far end by the scoreboard.

LOL I breed ponies for a living and even I thought that was funny!

Is that the same lady slipper from when I was a kid?! Seems impossible…,
Eta- different prefix, not the same

I remember a Llandefalle Lady Slipper but that was a long time ago!

That’s the one I remember. Lindsay Pheobus’s pony.

bunch of rotten little devil mini horses I tell ya…lol
“The smaller the pony, the closer to Hell.” It was someone on these forums who introduced me to that phrase … and it always cracks me up.

Yes that’s her.

I also noticed one named Al Capony, but it was in the greens. So presumably not the same one from about twenty years ago.

In the US shads are decidedly NOT for men. Not sure about the history of shad usage for juniors but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen photos from the 50s/60s with juniors in shadbellies, for big night classes.
I was a junior in the 60s when there were formal appointments and Corinthian classes and ladies and juniors did wear shads although I don’t think it was mandatory, I seem to remember lots of regular black Melton hunt coats.

Men wear weaselbelly, the male equivalent of shads. I know the male staff of our local hunt have them for formal social functions such as the Master of Foxhounds Annual Hunt Ball in NYC and the local hunt ball etc. I don’t know if I have ever seen them actually ride in them though, I haven’t been to a hunt in ages.

Yowza. From the scores today, it looks like 14 ponies had at least one refusal, and another 14 were eliminated. Out of about 120 smalls. That’s unfortunate, to say the least.

Anyone know what time the mediums o/f starts today? My horse has a farrier appointment at 10am (doesn’t he know it’s PF?!) and there’s a few mediums I really want to see go.

Yes, I meant medium greens - whoops! Thanks!

I was watching thinking the same thing… smalls are the devil lol… I have had mediums, and thank god for my saint of a pony. Shes generally very honest, unless you drop her to a fence or dont give her direction. She likes her rider to be there with her, the most she’ll do is what we jokingly call a “drive by” and go left instead of over lol

To be fair her full sister I sold, ended up a small and is a total saint at 4 years old as well. So there are exception thankfully!

You can always watch the division on usefnetwork on demand

I just checked Equestrian live. The med greens are listed there. Is the current list the order of go? Do they start at the bottom of the list and work toward the top? Taylor St Jaques is second from the top, so I am assuming that the highest ranked ponies are up there. There is one I really want to see which is about 2/3rds of the way down the list – any guestimate of about when she will ride? (within the approximate hour is fine  )

^ The leader goes last over jumps. In the medium greens, that would be Sophia Calamari on Unforgettable.

I would guess they might get through 25-30 trips an hour, depending on the course.

They have current order of go and live update (immediate) when results are in. Shows results for each section and overall.

Its a big course and rides long but they are cranking them out at least 25 trips an hour. Even yesterday with the…issues…that delayed things a bit, they ran 120 trips in just about 5 hours. With no water/drag breaks and just a few 10 min judge bio breaks it goes quick. Reg Smalls started shortly after 1 and wrapped about 6:30.

I’d stick to the 2min a trip formula, moving it up a bit in case of scratches to be sure you catch a favorite.
