Pony Finals 2015

jumps do not look by any means to be 3’, but that is the large regulars. Jods vs tall boots often depend on the age of the rider. My daughter is 12 and showed her large in jods, and is now showing her 16.1H in jods.

So this is a stupid inconsequential question, but I noticed that one pony rider only had her hair in a single braid with a ribbon instead of the usual two. (Told you this was stupid!)

Is that the new trend or just a personal thing?
I only noticed it because I used to teach, and took many short-stirrup riders to shows over the years. I became a pro at braiding hair, tying (and making) bows, and putting on garters. ;)[/QUOTE]

I’m sure it’s a personal thing

Re: a single braid, I wore a single braid until I moved out of short stirrup due to very fine hair that looked like rat tails when separated into pigtails.

The fences are definitely 3’ (from someone who has spent a lot of time in the adults). The camera angle is also from above, so that, along with a lot of fill, makes them look a lot smaller. And yes, same Morgan Ward.

Silly question, but what is the idea behind having the first line set up with double jumps? Anyone know what a trainer would be likely to tell their kid as far as taking one side or the other?

Can someone help me calculate a score in the Large O/F…what is the formula? Pony got a 923. Is that like mid 80s? Thanks!

o/f score is double.

I understand it’s worth 50%. Trying to figure out the actual breakdown.

Plan your track over the jumps to and around the corner to the following jump and take whichever side gets you the best track?

They always have options like this at PF. Not an easy course.

scoring is 25% model, 25% hack, 50% over fences.

And most of the fences are 3’, they just look a little short in that ginormous ring and jump a little easier of a more forward canter then you see in the typical Pony show ring.

Are they on a drag break right now? My screen says something like “broadcast not active.”

And where are they in the order?

TIA.

I’m seeing Samantha Rothman on screen right now.

They were around 75th in the order I think…and they don’t drag the Otto footing. Might have been a quick powder break, they’ve been going since 11

There are about 60 ponies left to go. I’m pretty sure Carolina’s Cool Breeze is in the ring now.

You can find the exact scores here:

Shoot, I missed one of the ponies I wanted to see. Hopefully the individual rounds will be available later on demand.

I thought I just read somewhere that scoring is 20% model, 30% US and 50% OF? But I can’t remember where I read that.

I’m enjoying the livestream, and very glad to have it this year. However, I’m disappointed, and have heard from others who are disappointed that the Team Jumper competition on Thursday and Friday nights is not being covered. Anyone else? Last I heard, only the Saturday night Individual Jumper Finals was being streamed.

Approximately 1/4 of that is the over fences score - then that score is divided by 3 to allow for the 3 judging panel. So around a 76.9 raw score. (923/4=230.75, 230.75/3=76.91)

British here so no clue on the hunter business  So is the 2 jumps next to each other just depending how it goes and what you walk it as? It won’t affect the scoring in anyway depending on which you take?

Also can someone actually explain Hunters a little? I get it about small, medium, large and classes but what do they look for? Too me aside from some of the ponies chipping/taking flyers they all look the same

There are currently two ponies with 923.XX. I’ll pick the one with 923.85 as an example.

There are 3 judges. To get the average score, divide the below numbers by 3:

Model: 210.90 (Avg 70.30)
U/S: 233.31 (Avg 77.77)
O/F: 239.82 (Avg 79.94)

As mentioned, O/F is 50%. Add 210.90+233.31+(2*239.82) to get to 923.85.

As MHM noted, you can see the individual scores for each section on equestrianlive.com as well as shownet.biz.

I have never seen this many stops before. Is there something spooky out there?
