He was an amazingly solid 3 year old. He’s 16 now, but he has always loved driving. When my mom tried him she saw a weedy little thing who was really pretty green under saddle - she only wanted to w/t trail ride - but when they hooked him? The ears went up, the body language changed to “YES! My job!” and he went off down the road like he was 10. He did not know things like going on the bit, in-hand manners beyond leading in a straight line, fly spray was an issue, and trailering made him anxious, but his reaction to not understanding something was to plant himself and look at you. Unlike my ISH 3 year old who’s go-to reaction was levitate and leave at high speed.
We didn’t believe they were the same age.
He’s a much better pony now than he was then, but he’d probably been driving since he was barely 2, and it was solid at 3. He’s also an M line which are known for being sturdy and solid citizens. People tell us he’s exceptional but it goes to show they are out there.
As for the Amish aspect, Frodo came from Haflinger breeding/training farm and the owners were Amish. Not someone who’s Amish who happens to have a horse for sale, if that makes sense.
