Pop-Up Ads at Bottom of Screen

The close button is now more visible IF you aren’t limited to a smaller window size. So it still doesn’t work on a personal computer, and my work computer window size is limited so I can’t close, and therefore have to refresh every single page since it’s once again showing up every single page.

And I have yet to see mods address the bandwidth suck. I’m still mighty ticked off that it used up so much bandwidth my home internet is slowed to nearly unuseable due to the rural internet/bandwidth limit. So now I have to wait 30 days until I can use my home computer much at all. Yeah, I think that’s a legit complaint that telling me to use even MORE bandwidth to download software doesn’t justify away.

Finally registering my opinion, in case it matters…I agree: the pop-ups are extremely irritating! I have a policy of NOT patronizing businesses that have annoying advertising, whether online, TV or radio. I’m using a PC at home, with Firefox, and the ads often freeze things up temporarily due to some “script loading” thing. If COTH and the pop-up advertisers are trying to drive away BB users/potential buyers, it sounds like they’re succeeding!

Ads on the side of the page don’t bother me and I do click on them occasionally. I only click on pop-ups to close them. Thanks COTH for making this easier by making the Close button more visible.

While the new close button may be an improvement for some folks, closing the ad doesn’t correct the font fade that happens on my computer when the ad appears.

We should be complaining to the other advertisers. Because they are certainly being directly screwed by the situation of people who didn’t and don’t WANT to run ad-blockers starting to use them.

I can’t seem to get to the close button while I browse on my iPhone just accidentally clicked on some fishing (?) ad and the audio scared me! No more COTH forums until this is fixed!

I have a suspiciion that COTH does not want the pop-up to be changed to a side ad. I would bet that they get revenue for every click that takes you to the truck web page.

I get the pop-up on my IPOD and, EVERY single time I go to hit the close button, it takes me to the truck page.

So there is no incentive on the part of COTH to try to change it to a side ad.

ok, here is an admittedly cynical view of all this… COTH doesn’t care that the ads are bothersome - all they care about is revenue so since you HAVE to click the ad to get rid of it (and inadvertently click others in the process) the are happy because their ad revenue is thru the roof.

while i hope the ads disappear for others (i run an ad blocker because i live an ad free life) my guess is - probably not…

think about the number of folks who post on COTH daily - think of the number of folks here complaining… probably a small percentage… soooo…

perhaps a revolution is in order

The popups freeze my Android tablet every time so I can’t even sign on here with it anymore. That means I’m on the site a LOT less. Today, the popup actually crashed my web browser on my desktop PC b/c the Javascript that runs the ad failed and froze everything.

For a bit, the super obvious close button was making the ever present Dodge ads tolerable, but today not only are they popping up every time I change screens, they don’t have a close button at all.

I try to ignore them, but they slow down my browser.

The Dodge ads are popping up every single time I change screens today too. Mine have the close button, but I’m going insane. I’ve also inadvertently clicked on the ad once and on another ad underneath it trying to close it.

Non-stop pop ups

While those Ram pop ups have been annoying over the past weeks, today they come up every 15 seconds. A few seconds after I close the ad out, it shows up again. I am installing an ad blocker after this experience. I’m sorry to lose access to the side ads, which I occasionally utilize, but enough is enough.

Whoa, these pop-ups have REALLY gotten bad today!!! :mad:

I see that the “close” button is a lot more visable now but the intensity of the ads seems to have been ramped up quite a few notches! Very annoying.

It used to be that once you closed them (which did NOT work when on an iPhone), they were gone - and would stay gone for quite a while. But today, in the last two minutes, I’ve closed the darn thing about a dozen times or more and it still persists in popping back up. Changing the page doesn’t seem to deter it at all now!

This kind of annoyance just makes people want to swear they will NEVER, EVER buy a product from any company that uses those horrid pop-ups!!!

Same here. Every single time I go to a new screen I get the pop up ad.

I really dislike installing add-ons to my browser so I guess I’ll have to stop coming to the forum.

PS Dodge – the constant stream of ads does not make me want to buy a truck from you.
