Preventing the Winter Coat

It just says rules say no clipping, no info if these are barn or show rules. Since some parts of Texas do get quite cold and experience heavy snow I hesitate to offer advice if there is also a rule against blankets.

Ranch horse open shows in the area don’t want to see clipped horses, braids, shaved muzzles, or polished hooves.

We do get cold enough to blanket every once in a while for those that do grow a decent coat. We are usually in the low 30s as a low, but we hit sub 20 a couple times from 40+ degree day time temps. One was a warm 65 to 18 degrees. They all got blankets that night. I’m at my own facility, not a boarding barn; any rules are my own.

Please don’t make assumptions, that’s rude.
