But really in the end it doesn’t matter as much as the question of whether they are comparable pound for pound as in the end how much weight you have to feed is the important part. Say the PE you only get 14 scoops out of but you find you can reduce all the horses by a half scoop it works out as cheaper (for example). So whether they weigh the same per scoop isn’t all that important or than a starting point for feeding.
Ha. Nope. I don’t even like it. My horses can’t handle the volume.
But it’s seriously awesome for someone who prioritizes number of scoops in the bag, like you are!!
No, the rest of us just understand the joke Simkie was making because Sentinel is an extruded feed that has more volume due to being extruded.
Obviously that went right over your head too.
@cutter99 can you believe I only get about 11 scoops to a bag with what I feed?! (Legends Performance, ~1.5#/qt) Geez, I’m getting SO ripped off!
I have no issue with a bag having less scoops. I don’t know where the misunderstanding is coming from. I never said I wanted more scoops in a bag or was looking for a feed with more scoops in a bag.
And I use a scoop that holds almost exactly one pound of the grain I feed (Seminole Welness Dynasport), so I get FIFTY scoops per bag! I win!!
Seriously though, OP, I hope you can see what we’re trying to get you to understand here. Scoops per bag is completely irrelevant to feeding horses.
DUDE. You do win. Damn!
Okay, I’m taking a tablespoon out to the barn tomorrow. THEN I’ll win!
This WHOLE THREAD is you saying the Pro Elite isn’t worth it if you can’t get X number of scoops in a bag. All of it.
Number of scoops in the bag seems to be your #1 priority.
I think there is a huge misunderstanding about the question I’m asking. I don’t care how much a feed cost geez I pay almost 28.00 for a bag of TC senior. I also don’t care how many scoops I’m getting. I do care about leaving a feed I’m pretty happy with for one that looks just as good on the bag and is a hell of a lot closer if brought into this particular feed store. I don’t want to switch and have to buy more feed for the same result. My better worded question is can you switch and feed the recommended weight and will your horses still look as good as on your feed before?
this is probably why people are confused and thought you wanted to know the number of scoops in a bag.
This is probably why people thought you were basing your feeding program on cost per scoop, and how many scoops were in a bag.
Yeah, that’s not at all what you were asking, or what you insisted upon, multiple times.
Most people swap Pro Elite 1:1 (BY WEIGHT) for the analogous TC product and have good results. If PE is less for you per bag, you’ll probably save some bucks switching to that.
But number of scoops per bag has absolutely zero to do with it.
Simkie, what I really want to know is how are you spending all your shill money from Kent/ Blue Seal? Don’t go wasting it all on horsey things!
I’m livin’ SO large, you just wouldn’t believe it!
Like, seriously…I bought the FANCY manure fork last time. AND went out for nachos with what was left.
You don’t need to tell me you’re totes jelly.
Oh I am jelly. I didn’t get any nachos this week, and I retired from the feed industry as a full time shill! I musta been shillin’ for the wrong people!
And congrats on your new manure fork!
You should have no issue feeding the recommended amount of the PE and having your horses look just as good (the one we have on it looks better, IMO) as on the TC. It was developed by the same person who developed the TC Senior.
This is probably why people feel you are worried about the number of scoops.
Some people on this board go well out of their way to ridicule others; don’t worry about the middle school mean girl mentality that pops up on a regular basis. In a roundabout way, are you trying to determine if switching to Pro Elite Sr will give you the same results as as TC Sr when fed at the same rate? I don’t feed Pro Elite, so apologies, but can’t help you there.
@Palm Beach, did you READ the first page+ of this thread? The OP asked specifically and repeatedly how many scoops are in a bag of Pro Elite and then became quite angry when those who responded tried to explain why that question was impossible to answer. It was only well into the conversation that the question changed to whether the Pro Elite product(s) would be an equivalent switch to what they had been previously feeding.
I did, and it’s not an impossible question to answer. The OP just needed to state which variety he/she was looking at.
