Probably a stupid question....American Hanoverian Society query

Just bear in mind that I’m a first time warmblood owner. Can my foreign born Hanoverian be recorded or in some way listed with the American Hanoverian Society? Looking at the points and such. I’m just not sure how it works if the horse wasn’t born in America.

Is it possible to change your title to ‘Hanoverian Question’? It will draw the attention of the experts you need.

Maybe you can call AHS in Lexington, Ky. I’m sure they’ll give you an accurate answer.

Nope AHHA AKA the American Holsteiner Horse Association is definitely not who you should contact. But AHS, the America Hanoverian Society may be able to help.

Generally speaking, the majority of daughter and affiliated Hanoverian societies/clubs/etc. share reciprocity with the Hanoverian Verband in Germany. So theoretically your Hanoverian can be “recorded” with the American Hanoverian Society and be eligible for year end awards, etc. But the devil is always in the details as to who issued the papers in order for the AHS to recognize them.

If your papers are from one of the recognized societies, you would need to submit a transfer of ownership form with a copy of your horse’s papers and pay the fee. That should accomplish the recording. To be eligible for year end awards, etc., you would also need to become a member of the AHS.

Look under “Forms and Policies” at www.hanoverian.org for the paperwork. Or email the AHS a copy of the horse’s papers at ahsoffice@aol.com and they should be able to email you the necessary paperwork.

This past weekend was the AHS’s awards banquet in Lexington, KY. Champions in the respective divisions each received a halter from Quillin’s with an AHS Champion nameplate, while reserve champions received a Dover saddle pad with the H-US logo. @Bent Hickory Thanks for that. It’s not so much a pursuit of prizes but I am trying to embrace this new world I am diving into. I am a huge proponent of Tb’s and I am trying to figure out a lot of new things.

It’s been awhile but if I remember correctly, we just sent Lion King’s German Hanoverian passport to the AHS and they recorded him in the US Registry. I don’t recall if there was even a fee, but it was hassle free.

Any questions, I would not hesitate to speak with them. I have multiple times, and they were always super pleasant.

If your horse is registered with the Hanoverian Verband, transferring ownership is easy. There is a transfer fee, and I suspect you can find the necessary forms at www.hanoverian.org. AHS is a good organization and their members are always happy to help. Call the office if you have questions.
