Problems w/ Chronicle website

It sounds like they’ve been receiving reports of this issue, primarily linked with iPhone users. It’s been reported to tech support, so hopefully a resolution is on its way!

Thanks for letting us know ~

Thank you so much, Mod 1! I look forward to being able to read the site again!

Happens to me too. iPhone 8 and 2 year old iPad. Both running latest versions.

Installed a free app called Brave Browser on my iPad. I connect to Chronicle articles and forum using this app, and it has totally blocked the annoying amazon pop ups. I am very happy to have clean Chronicle viewing again, prior to this app I could not access Chronicle for @2 weeks.

I always thought it was related to opening links through the Facebook app, but today it happened to me when opening COTH from my browser (on my iphone), so there goes that theory. Anyway, I commented because I thought this post was about another issue that I’ve been having a lot on the forums-- the scripts freeze. This has happened on multiple browsers and multiple computers. Most of the time I can choose “wait” and it fixes itself, but sometimes I have to end the program. Not sure if anyone has brought this up before!

I have been getting the pop ups that I won a new phone or Walmart gift card from the COTH website recently. This is on an older Motorola Droid using Chrome.

I was also having that issue yesterday on a Galaxy S8 with Chrome. I have not seen the issue today. I did run a malware/virus scan yesterday, but it didn’t find anything.

No problems yesterday, but it already happened twice today. A You Tube ad and a Walmart ad.

Hmmm, I never win anything, don’t even get spam ads that I won something?

Santa must really not like me at all, a chunk of coal is all I would get.

Are those getting the win this or that notice sure it is coming thru COTH, or google ads, that are ubiquitous, show up also in other places?

I’m having this same issue on the forums on a Galaxy S7 using the defaults Samsung browser. In my experience, it’s a website issue, not a device or browser problem. Some malware has infected the forum software.

The pop ups have been happening every few minutes this morning. Walmart (where I never shop) Amazon and You tube.

Hmmm, nothing here, all still working ok … for now anyway.

You cleaned your cookies?

No, but it seems to be fixed. No problems in several hours

ETA, it’s only on my phone, no problems on any computers.

Good, maybe it will stay fixed now.

And the pop ups/ redirects are back. Started again this morning and now twice in the last few minutes.

Weird. What platform/browser are you using.

I use iMac with current version of MacOS along with Safari and yes, I see ads but no “popups” or redirect stuff. No ad blockers.

Same here?

It’s on my older Motorola Phone (Droid) browsing with Chrome. The Popups are “Motorola User” you have won. It never happens on the computers I use (home using the phone as a WIFI hotspot or the college computers I use), but regularly on the phone.

They are ads to Walmart (I never shop there or even look at their website), Amazon (I do have an account, but only access that through a computer and rarely, though I occasionally browse with the phone) and YouTube (like Amazon - account, rarely used and only through a computer, occasional browsing on the phone).

@Christa P Have you tried blocking pop-up ads through Chrome?

Here’s a tutorial I found here: [h=4]If it’s really only the pop-up adverts that bother you and you’d rather not have to install a second browser then these can be blocked in Google’s own Chrome browser.

Launch the browser, tap on the three dots at the top right of the screen, then choose Settings, Site Settings.

Scroll down to Pop-ups and ensure the slider is set to Blocked.[/h]

That is already set.
