We’ve decided to have the surgery done with OVC, the veterinary college in Ontario.
Our first appointment is through the phone and isn’t until August 8th. They won’t schedule her surgery until after this appointment. So, we’re looking at a bit of a wait anyways. She’s a November baby so we’ll be awfully close to a year by the time we get re-plumbed.
Will be interesting to hear what OVC says regarding spaying etc.

Wow! What a crazy, who-woulda-thunk thing! Hope her surgery goes well!
Another puppy update:
Our dog had her surgery a couple days ago at OVC. They rerouted her left ureter (which was half way down her urethra!) back to her bladder. The only negative news from the surgery was that her urethra muscles weren’t as contracted as they should have been and we were warned that we may need drugs to get total continence. They said things will take about 10 days to reduce post-surgery inflammation so we can’t say for certain how that will play out just yet.
Currently, she only drips a teeny bit when super excited - typical puppy stuff! It’s a far cry from the constant dribble pre surgery.
And, on a side note, I cannot get over how awesome OVC was to deal with. All things considered the price of surgery was more than reasonable at $3300, so below the estimated quote of $4500 we were given.
We are very happy with our outcome, and our only regret is not pursuing further diagnostics earlier.
