Purina Senior Active feed

No spookiness at all and our stallion has been eating it for years. He gets a small coffee can size portion morning and night with a flake of alfalfa. He’s a small Arab. He also gets carrots. He’s no longer ridden. He has a large turnout off his stall and is turned out daily. At 32 - he does not look his age.

A great many feeds have molasses. Triple Crown Sr has molasses - 11.7% NSC. Unless the horse has a pretty serious sensitivity to any molasses, and those horses definitely exist, then its presence isn’t an issue. It’s a matter of context - the high NSC grain-based feed is more likely to cause a “hot” horse than a feed with molasses in it, all else equal.

Thanks, JB. I think I remember my vet telling me one time that people worry about molasses but at that little amount (if you feed even 3-5 pounds a day) that amount of sugar is probably less than one or maybe 2 sugar cubes…
