Some of the quarantine facilities that work with the killpen people are just as bad. I saw pics when someone backed out of a horse after it had been bought (with other people’s money) and the facility was open pipe stalls with other horses. A healthy horse could easily get strangles there just in time to head home.
Which is my point. I am not sure we can really call this type of care QT, but it does have a place in the chain of getting a horse back to safe harbor.
Most places don’t do it correctly. They don’t have the funds or the time, plus are providing care at a cost just above breaking even.
I would love to set up a nice quarantine barn and focus on that niche, but half the time the money people would pay wouldn’t even cover expenses even though it is 10x the work of a regular barn.
