Question About New 2023 Tests

Am I mistaken or are some tests not changing at all. For instance, 1st level test 2 looks exactly the same. thanks!

Yes, on the whole if the test committee thinks something’s working well and serving the purpose intended, they generally don’t change just for the sake of it. They will make changes to something that is proving problematic to ride in the real world or if they want to emphasize a particular training point that they think is being missed.

However, when looking at the differences between old and new tests, look at the coefficients as well, Sometimes, they will sneak in a change in these to get people to focus on a particular element. They did that last time round by making the FCs in 3rd level double coefficients so it really dinged your scores if you were just trying to skate by without a decent change.

I suspect there have been less changes than normal this year as so many fewer people have actually ridden the last set of tests, thanks to Covid.

ALso, check the “purpose” at the top of the test. I know First Level has changed from “accepting the bit” to “On the bit”. That is a big change.
