Or it might simply be Palm Beach having fun with people. Pretending to add more information from the OP posting as PB.
That would be a very weirdly specific technical glitch magically targeting a poster who is often argumentative and inconsistent…
”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹
Has to be. Palm Beach’s posts can cause minor kerfuffles sometimes, but it never would have occurred to me that she’d post under multiple identities!
Now that you mention it, technical glitch seems probable. The board was running SUPER slow last night for a long time too.
She is giving me a hard time because I left early the other day to go get a new halter. Have there been any posts about macrocephaly?
What??
I know her and she’s having a little ha-ha about my filly’s head growing.
On the topic of this post though, a lot of you mentioned that it just depends on what I’m feeding him already and to make sure that it’s just well rounded and that he shouldn’t need anything special as long as his weight gain is on track. The boarding facility includes feed, I know he’s provided access to hay (alfalfa) at all times because they cannot graze. All pastures are sandy as we are next to the beach. He also gets, I think, quite a bit of orchard grass.
Do you know how much alfalfa vs OG he’s eating? A high % alfalfa diet is quite unbalanced in terms of calcium and phosphorous - not a huge deal for adults, but depending on just how unbalanced, a very big deal for foals. If it’s no more than about 50/50, it might be ok. But if it’s heavily skewed to alfalfa - and most horses will choose good alf over even good OG, then I would be worrying.
She who? FaithView? Palm Beach?
This is getting weird.
I asked last night for specifics and she let me know it was 80% OG and 20% Alfalfa.
Awesome, that’s a great mix percentage
He sure looks big enough for his age, I would not worry about size right now.
Goodness, nice colt there. Very familiar with the size of stock trailers, good reference point for guesstimating and he looks a proper size for a 7 month old to me. Appears to be in very good weight, good coat with bright, healthy expression as well. wouldn’t worry about changing anything at all here. He’s doing just fine.
If you want to play around with the string test, in mature horses that were properly nourished as youngsters, the distance between point of fetlock and point of elbow is approximately the same as point of elbow to wither . It’s a ballpark way to guesstimate future size. He’s very young yet but you could just take a string between those points for fun, long as you are aware these proportions can change in one this young, probably not by too much though.
He looks to be a fledgling stock type horse, legs look clean and well placed and he’s developing what looks like a pretty good size motor behind. He’s where he should be if not a bit ahead of the curve. Be aware he will grow in spurts and not necessarily symmetrically, they go through some awkward stages. He’s not in one now for sure.
We were not experiencing any technical glitches that would mistakenly attribute a user’s comments to another username.
So, just curious - what happens to someone with, apparently, 4 different accounts on this board? Palm Beach has posted as her/himself but answering as if posting as, no less than 3 other posters - Flash44, Carman_Liz, and lanie1234 (or something like that)
Enough high quality food in the right balance and ( preferably) 24/7 access to daily self exercise and he will get to where he is genetically programed to be.
Some horses are small and seem to grow dramatically in spurts and others just start out big and stay that way from the start.
Sand is lethal to horses. It has to be managed. It would be much easier to move him to where there is no sand.
Sorry, I know I said sand, I just meant that were are so close to the coast that nothing grows there on the ground. The ground is loose there but its not actually sand. The barn there has also put layers of soil over the ground in their pastures. There are sandy patches all over the property though, but not in the pastures and trails are also lain out.
Apparently, nothing.
C’mon. You’re not new here. It’s been going on for literally years.
