Re: Lisa McAdams

Lisa McAdams aka Lisa Kato is now also using the alias Sylvia Ferrell. She has other names she uses when she posts horses for sale because her name is Mudd.

I also have had the misfortune of dealing with her. Twice.

The first time was about 15 years ago. She was using the sob story about her kid, Cassidy, whose health issues she has exaggerated and has exploited endlessly for personal gain. The horse I looked at was looking at was sketchy at best and I walked away. Selling the horse to pay medical bills if I recall correctly. That was her spiel, anyways because she’d gotten her kid written up in the local paper. “Poor Us!!”

The second time was just last year. Someone named “Lindy” posted a horse for sale on Equine.com. The ad was a day old. I messaged “Lindy” about the horse. The horse was already sold (imagine that) but she had another one even better. (Bait and switch anyone??) I went to see the horse. I recognized Lisa immediately, even though it was 14 years later and a different farm. “Lindy” was still going on about Cassidy’s issues. Said they were moving to Colorado or Wyoming or someplace and selling everything to pursue “poor sick” Cassidy’s dream of Barrel Racing or something like that.

I was looking for a beginner safe horse. “Teddy” was supposed to be the dead quiet horse anyone could ride. I told her in advance I wanted to see a fresh horse. I wanted to see it groomed and tacked before we rode.

I show up and Teddy is in the ring, covered in sweat and foam, but the saddle was off. Clearly Teddy had been ridden extensively and they’d just untacked. They threw the western saddle on (Literally), and got on Teddy and rode him around. Even after obviously being ridden hard, Teddy was still very forward and clearly not a beginner safe horse. She said I could have him cheap and dropped the price before I said anything. Yeah, no thanks. Total waste of time.

I recently posted looking for another horse. She PMs me as “Sylvia Ferrell” saying her friend has the “perfect horse”. She sends me a really bad photo that looks like it was a phone pic taken of a pic on a computer screen. She won’t send a video. She won’t tell me her friend’s name who owns the horse.

A little research shows that Sylvia Ferrell is the name of her neighbor. “Sylvia” also provided the neighbor’s address as hers. They share a common driveway at 1924/1928 Eastham Rd., Bumpass, VA.

I recognized the address and Google Earthed it and yep, “Sylvia” is Lisa.

Ask yourself this: If she is legit, why does she go to such trouble to hide who she is?

Sooo can someone link these other train wrecks (aka “can i ride your horse” and “rate my horse pro”)? Because I’ve got a bag of popcorn and hours to kill, but my snooping skills aren’t the best and I can’t find them :frowning:

I’d love links to the Rate my Horse Pro, too.

She also has a “partner” who is completely complicit in her activities, Shannon Lynn Dotson. who is in Columbia or Cumberland, VA Shannon’s Facebook page says Columbia, VA but she told me her barn was actually near Cumberland, VA.

I’ve only been to a few towns in Virginia, like Culpeper and Orange. Tell me, is it BumPass or BumpAss? :lol:Either way, it doesn’t sound like it’s where the winning team hangs, but humor me.

Wow this thread is going to need a stake through its heart to kill it. How many resurrections is this, six? And to the folks looking for links to referenced trainwreck threads, they probably were deleted in one of the forum updates over the last several years!

Ruby, Locals pronounce the name “Bump-iss”; the second syllable rhyming with “hiss”. If you pronounce it “Bump-Ass”, second syllable rhyming with “crass”, locals will know you’re not from around there, and also suspect you of making fun of them. Though if your mailing address is “Bumpass”; you have to have a pretty thick skin and a well developed sense of humor.

Perhaps if the scam artist known as Lisa McAdams would crawl off in a hole a die, no one would need to resurrect this thread. You would think that as a fellow horse person, you’d want the word to get out to avoid sellers that drug and/or misrepresent their horses. Unless you’re associated with her, in which case, you go on the $#it list, too.

There are many who are familiar with her, but many who are not. And since she keeps using different names (Lisa, Sylvia, Lindy, etc.) and locations (Bumpass, Mineral, Louisa, Lake Anna, etc.) to disguise who she is, it is easy to not associate one with the other. Although I am well aware of who she is and what she looks like, she still got me to come out and look at a horse by using her daughter’s name and location of “Lake Anna”. I would not immediately associate “Cassidy in Lake Anna” with “Lisa McAdams of Bumpass”. As soon as I saw who it was, I turned around and left without even getting out of the car. Others might not know her on sight. Needless to say, it was a waste of 3 hours driving there and back. I, for one, would appreciate knowing her aliases. She almost got me with “Sylvia” recently but I found this thread and it saved me another wasted trip.
