How awful, things are apparently going very downhill!!!
I have had problems with Farmhouse Tack regarding payment for a saddle they sold for me. It took forever to receive my check. I called several times and was told crazy things like they only write checks one day a month, etc.
I’ve had things with other consignment shops and that was their policy - They cut checks one day a month; if it missed the cutoff, it got paid the next month. Assuming they have more than just your one item on consignment, I didn’t find it unreasonable.
It may not be their fault (well, not entirely) - sometimes it takes your credit card company up to a billing cycle to process refunds.

But the OP didn’t send an item to sell on consignment. The OP took a saddle on trial and then wanted a refund when the wrong saddle was sent. Regardless of SCM’s situation— there’s no excuse for what’s happening to the OP.
And if the refund was already made but just hasn’t posted to her account due to credit card billing cycles-- Farmhouse should tell her that.
I don’t even know why she was charged in the first place when she made it clear the trial saddle was going back due to THEIR ERROR.
OP have you contacted your credit card company to dispute the charge at this point? You aren’t getting any satisfaction from trying to deal directly. Tell your credit card you dispute the charge, they will do a chargeback and send paperwork to Farmhouse to back up the claim, this usually lights a fire under people to get their job done. Good Luck.
I was mere responding to the poster who mentioned the cut-checks-once-a-month policy was crazy. Was that not clear from the post that was quoted?
I made no comment on the OP’s predicament at all.
I had the same thing happen to me. I had a saddle on trial, returned it, and it was over a month before the charge was refunded on my card.

I realize that, but it’s still no answer as to what on earth is going on with the OP! I was just expressing frustrating that although maybe there are some answers to SOME of what has happened with Farmhouse-- the OP’s situation is pretty unique and there’s no excuse. I don’t think my post was very clear! I can understand maybe having to wait for a check for a consigned and sold item… but a credit card refund due to the store’s error? Unacceptable.

Is this the same Farm House that Melissa Jones Hare (or something like that I can’t remember off hand), who posts to the COTH bb, works for? I think so.
Maybe call the store and ask for her specifically and see if you can’t get some resolution. The ONLY issue I ever had w/them was with a particular employee who I understand is not there anymore. She was dreadful. Good luck!!
I believe Melissa is on vacation doing her summer riding camp, so you likely would not be able to get her.

I called again today to follow up on my still-not-arrived refund.
Was told that the person who does “all the customer service” will call me back, not sure if she’s coming in today or not. Um, okay.
That is exactly the song & dance I received when I called to inquire about payment for my saddle. Which, of course, they were already paid for! “The person who writes checks is not here.” “I don’t know when she will be in.” “We only write checks once a month.” and my personal favorite, “It takes at least 4 weeks for payment to clear; that is why you have to wait for your payment.”
Uh huh.
It’s fine if I can’t get Melissa.
I don’t really want to do a chargeback because having been on both the credit card processor and retailer side of that, it costs everybody a lot of money, including my credit union who is innocent in all this. I will wait a few more days but then I have no problem disputing.
However, if the refund had been processed but not posted, it would show-- I see charges on my card literally seconds after they have been authorized in a pending area. If there was anything pending, it would show there.
Since it’s now 12:15, I am guessing that whoever it is that does their customer service is NOT in today-- so I will call tomorrow. Big certification exam for my job tomorrow so I’m not worrying about it until after that at this point.
So sorry you are having this problem. I had the exact same thing happen to me about a year ago; took a used saddle on trial from the Farm House, returned it well within the week-long trial period. I mistakenly assumed they had taken my cc as security, and was not amused to find that my card had been charged. I tried to get the credit put on the account before the end of the billing period for the card (THREE WEEKS), and got a complete runaround from the Farm House. I was told the “only person” who could do the credit would call me back. That never happened, and that special person was NEVER available when I called, no matter what time of day. Also, noone there would ever give me a straight answer as to when the refund would be issued and/or posted to my account. All I got was a lot of vague “customer-service-speak” similar to what you get from a big corporation who doesn’t want to give you your money back for tsomething they’ve screwed up.
Finally I told them I was fed up, that unless my card was credited that business day I was getting in my car and would be standing in their store until my card was credited or I was handed cash for the amount I was owed. Surprise! My card was credited by the next morning.
My takeaway from this is: stop being nice. Channel your inner nasty and let them have it. I was nice for six weeks and NOTHING happened until I acted like a BFH.

my entire barn loves to shop there and in fact I am driving up there tomorrow on my way to drop my daughter off at camp to shop. With that said i am also going to have to have a talk with them. I have a student who had a pair of volant boots from them. They blew apart in about 6 months. We returned them, waited as they shipped them back to Ariat. All good at this point… Ariat did not have another pair in the size we needed anywhere. 10 tall slim. The store offered to exchange them for a pair of Crown pros in the same size if he paid the difference in price, again great, paid the up charge, got new boots… they don’t fit. Way too big around the calf. Store told him tough luck… not good. I am taking the boots up there with me tomorrow. I am a huge fan of the store but we shall see what happens when I hand them the boots and tell them that we shall wait for the right size in the Volants to come in…
They told me it takes 14 days for a refund to post. Um, no it does not.
These folks need to get into the 21st century. Just refund me, I don’t know what the huge deal is.
My one experience with Farmhouse Tack (about 3-4 years ago) was very similar. They charged my card for a trial saddle that they didn’t even have in stock. Took several days and emails and phone calls to get my refund on my credit card. Decided right then that I would never do business with them again.
Perhaps ask to speak directly with Noreene.
I spoke with Noreene during my situation … she was not nice and certainly not apologetic for the ridiculous treatment I had received.
So … no more Farmhouse Tack for me, not for any reason.

The only good thing about your situation is that now many, many, other horse people know not to trust the Farm House with a credit card.

I am guessing what they mean by 14 and a half days to post is that it takes them 12 days to get around to contacting the credit card company and then maybe a full business day (plus a little maybe) to show up on your statement.
