Really, really need help finding a HUNTER barn in South Jersey

The board at Three Charm Farm may be out of the price range you are looking to spend but as I said they have two farms and I think the board at their other farm could be more in the price range you are interested in. It is still worth the call

I am not sure about her rates, but you could try Patty Clark at Ev-Ry Farm in Mount Laurel. I don’t know where that is in relation to where you live, but I think you can get there from Philly fairly easily.

I work in Philly too, and I live in the western suburbs. IMHO, there are really no show barns that are an easy/quick drive from Philly, especially if you have to travel at rush hour. I ride in Harleysville, and it takes me at least a solid hour to get there from work, no matter when I leave. I think the barns up in northern Montgomery County and Chester County are all going to be at least an hour’s drive from center city. It may be that Moorestown/Mount Laurel and that area may be closer and easier to get to, but I am not completely sure.

Good luck in your search - feel free to PM me if you want any more info.

Actually, I know Bob Allen personally. His board WAS way more then posters budget and the last I heard…He no longer boards.

Still looking? I’m in the same boat but gratefully have my own private farm and trailer to the right trainer. I’m actually looking for one more “no drama” boarder LOL. I have one other boarder that does the same, trailers to trainer. You are more than welcome to have a trainer come here as well, PM me if you are still on a search. More than happy to help!!

Despite a lot of doom’n’gloom on the early part of this thread… as it turns out there are plenty of nice hunter barns in South Jersey. Is every single one of these exactly what I was looking for? The answer is “no.” But there were plenty I visited that were great and would/will work. I thought I’d post a list, for others use and future reference. There are some hunter barns in the area that I had completely overlooked, didn’t know about etc. And yes, even under budget

So, in no particular order…

Chesterfield Farm 609.291.8008
Artemis Farm (609) 859-3774
Mason Run Farm (609) 267-5448
Saddlebrook Ridge (609) 953-1600
Hidden Sun Farm (609) 268-4955
Three Charm Farm 609-654-9655
Ev-ry Farm 609-519-8291
Fenway Farm 609-351-0221
Trilogy Farm 609-324-8038
Oakshade Stables 609-268-9499
Greystone Farm 856-816-3603
GlenAyre 609-267-4104
Tustin Farm (609) 267-2099

I appreciate very much all the PMs and help from people on this thread. Thank you.

So the question remains, did you find a place?

Was going to suggest the barn I ride at but I see it was already on your list

Thank you so much NJCOTH for paying it forward. I’m on this thread 3-years later with a similar question and although I had to read through some unhelpful posts, your list is VERY helpful…along with some other posters. Thanks !!

There are some new places too that weren’t around in 2012. Heather Bonaventura built her own beautiful farm, Postorivo (mostly jumpers I think). Also there is Pine View Farm in Shamong. There’s probably a BUNCH of places in Shamong, actually. Manuel Show Stables for jumpers. Longview in Medfordish area. Sporty Acres which I see on CL and have never visited… And then there’s at least 2 barns near me in Lumberton although one I know doesn’t have an indoor. They’re Woodhaven and Horse Power SOMETHING. Both on Ark Road, one just past the intersection with Stacey Haines. Near the airport. The other almost at the end of Ark near the back of Johnson’s Corner Farm. Fox Hunt Farm is in Lumberton too. So there’s even more than just that list!

Sounds like you are talking near Colts Neck Hoofa

I board in Cream Ridge/ Allentown area with a really good Hunter trainer and my board is 800.00 which is a good deal in Hunterland around here…but it’s a small <12 stall> private, gorgeous facility with the owner living on premises.
We have 2 indoors, a large ring and a field to ride in. We are half hunters and half dressage BUT we all get along great!!

South Jersey, like someone said…hunter+south Jersey…nope. If my area is an option PM me OP. I will give you my trainer’s name and number.

PS: we are not far off Rt 195.[/QUOTE]

ETA: Just realized this is a 2012 thread… lol. Will leave this in case anyone searches for South Jersey barns

I ride in Colts Neck and pay 1000/mon. Not every barn around here is full service, $2000 & up. Beacon Hill and Stonehedge, of course. But there are plenty of lower key, more affordable places.

OP, I have a couple suggestions… Gleneayre, as mentioned above. Family owned, nice people. Pretty facility. I’ve attended the hunter derby they hold every year in the beginning of Nov and love it. It’s definitely a place that gives you a good, friendly vibe. Although, disclaimer, I have never had personal experience boarding a horse there. So I cannot personally vouch for the care although I would go so far as to assume it is good. My mind can’t seem to recall if they have an indoor, and I have no idea what they are charging for board, so you’d have to look into that.
Second suggestion- Ev-ry farm in Mt Laurel. Again, disclaimer, never had personal experience with the care, but another place I’ve been to that has given me a good vibe. Not sure who’s doing the training there, because I’m pretty sure Patti Clark retired. Also not sure what they are charging for board.
And lastly, probably farthest from what you’ve described but this is one I actually can, from very personal experience, vouch for. If you are willing to travel a bit farther, Golden Gait farm in Milstone. There are quite a few eventers there, and an event trainer, but Kim Guessford does the hunter/jumper stuff and she is fantastic. The facility is nice, its a beautiful farm. Everyone gets along great, nice indoor, owner is a great lady who lives on the property. Kim goes to a variety of shows, from the lower key C rated stuff all the way up to the big shows like Devon. The care is top notch. Board is above what you have stated you want to pay, but I think its a very fair price considering. I think it will be very difficult for you to find a hunter barn with an indoor/decent facility for $600/mon. Hope I helped a bit!

Glen Eayre are good people. Nice place to board. I can vouch. No indoor but they trailer somewhere in the winter.

Same with EvRy only there is an indoor. Patti retired. Trainers are Shelly Leber and Aimee Poris.
