Rearing :(

Pocket Pony,
Thank you for your post, very insightful and it’s always good to know others who have been there.
I think you are very correct that I cannot ‘label’ her. I have been very critical of myself looking back at what I missed, and while those signals I have come up with would have been nothing on a lot of other horses, they are now her signals.

I’ve been riding and making my own horses for over forty years, always trying to get better. This is the first time this has ever happened to me so it was definitely shocking for a bit.
She is a super sensitive girl with a lot of try and I have found out quite a bit about her during our experiences together away from home. Really looking forward to riding her again with Buck this fall, and doing some other stuff in between now and then.

Here are a couple pics of her Redness.

Speaking of her being sensitive, you can see it in her eyes - there’s a different look to her from your Buck clinic picture - relaxed, calm - and the dressage show picture - worried, unsure (but willing).

So the good news for you is she’s not dull or tuned-out or a zombie-like horse. She tries for you. The good news for her is that she’s in your charge and you clearly care about doing right by her so you’ll work hard to figure it out. Now you just have to refine your common language to come to an understanding. You are obviously a very capable rider and horsewoman, so I have no doubt you’ll figure it out.
