Recommendations for a good lameness vet in western mass?

Yeah I think I may have inadvertently picked the most expensive vet available lol. Farm call $115, $89 “basic lameness exam” (flexions and misc prodding)… I get asked “do you want me adjust him”… err ok I guess… add $150!!! for the adjustment for five minutes of bouncing around on my horse’s back. (didn’t know five minutes would be worth more than the 40 min it took them to get there? Would have declined if I had any idea it would add that much…it did absolutely nothing for him btw) and some other charge I can’t recall…I think some trial Previcox tablets or something…

all told, 400 buckeroos, to be told “he seems fine”. :frowning:

Say what?

I spent $275 in the fall with Dr Gaby: he did flexions on all four, lyme titer and radiographs of two front hooves… farm call was only $25 because it was shared… [/QUOTE]

Wow. I feel like I got taken now. Vet didn’t even even want to bother with a Lyme titer (at a DIFFERENT visit, actually…) said it’s a waste of money because they will usually test positive even if it’s an old exposure, just wanted to put him on 2 weeks of doxy (what is 2 weeks going to do if it’s lyme? what do I know.)

I think I need a new vet…

Ok one good thing…you made me feel better about paying a $90 farm call for the vet I lofff to come to the edge of his territory. Hope that is a small consolation!!
