Reining in Western NY?

I’ve been a long time John Lyons fan, and when Josh Lyons began introducing simple reining maneuvers I was even more enamored with the Lyons way of training.

Is there anyone in Western NY that trains Quarter horses and Paints to rein? I’m willing to travel.

I would suggest looking here:

I actually sat there and went to most of those. Ecra doesn’t have a trainer page, and neither does cnyrha.

Just googling, I found the following:

http://www.stonyfordreininghorses.com/
http://www.craigjohnsonreining.com/
http://gatareinranch.com/

NOTE - I do not have any experience with any of these trainers, so I can’t comment on them.

The NRHA list has several and is a good place to start. ETA - depending on where you are located, you might look into the http://www.eprha.com/

Thanks for all the suggestions! Looks like my area is pretty dry for reining trainers, though.

I thought this guy was a reiner, but could be mistaken. Regardless, I’ve heard good things about him.

Thank you everyone! I’m looking at those sites right now.

Try checking with someone with the Attica Rodeo. I know alot of the guys who compete also are reiners. Someone there should be able to help point you in the right direction.

The Central NY Reining Horse Association has a FB page, you might try asking there.
