With how many High Brow Cat’s there are out there, you will not find many in the reining. Cutting lines tend to be much hotter than reining lines.
Yes - HBC are not popular in the reining. Maybe too hot? Maybe their build? Maybe smarter than what most reiners want?
I have seen some Bet Hesa Cat’s that can flat out TURN. Makes me consider breeding my mare to him or his SBF winning son Plain Catty.
Corey Cushing was on Andrea Fappani’s podcast last week. He talks about the breeding and what they look for.
The trouble with hot in reining is the lack of consistency.
Reining is about everything to the last detail going well, as trained.
The slightest miscue on an overeager hot horse will lose you a class.
Those horses do better with top pros.
There are way more amateurs and lower end pros in the market than top pros.
Your market is greatly reduced for a really hot horse, plus his value will reflect that he is inconsistent.
Less hot horses can be as talented and more forgiving, save your bacon when you are wrong and they still do it right.
Now, there are more in a pedigree than one hot horse.
Balancing hot with less reactive in a horse’s pedigree may help, if all goes right.
It doesn’t matter what HBC’s are crossed on, they are still not very popular in reining.
Bluey doesn’t add, she subtracts. We should all accept that reality
Call Me Mitch absolutely blew my mind when I saw him at the World’s Richest Cowhorse this year. Stunning and seemed good minded. Don’t know if that helps at all. lol!
Nice! Wish they had a few more conformation shots of him.
Maybe close enough:

A friend has two Metallic Cat offspring and just loves them, compared with most any other he has started up to now.
Then, Docs Hickory tends to cross with anything for the better, if you don’t mind a little size.
Contact Theresa Ralls - I’m sure she can help you out. Hashtags and Sannman are two other MC sons that are hot right now.
Brother Jackson was the other standout to me at that show. I’ve heard on top of being lovely to look at, and fantastic at his job, that he has an awesome mind on him. I was watching him in the warmup pen, and he was the one that I would have given anything to ride. He just looked that much fun, and that kind.

Here’s a link to a video of the run I saw of his:
A neighbor’s kid spent two summers as one of several colt starters for a big breeder that had several Peptoboonsmal colts.
He said everyone wanted those, they were super gentle and chill, every one of them.
They just got on and rode off, made them look good.
I think I’m in love!
