Well it looks like we’re going to miss breeding on this cycle anyway, thanks to yesterday’s multitude of disasters. So I have a couple weeks to send the halter out for repair and have a replacement nameplate on order. Thanks again everyone!
Oh, that’s too bad :(. But seriously, if you are in the same situation again, just do the tape and a sharpie, no one will care or even notice. Also, KBC will do halters and nameplates while you wait, and it usually just takes a couple of minutes. For out of town mares that don’t come with decent halters, I use a plain halter of my own with a key ring type brass tag with the mare’s name. Best of luck with getting your mare bred!
