Most of his mares came from Windfields and what was then a much stronger regional group of elite Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania breeders (Allaire DuPont, Paul Mellon, E. P. Evans, Newstead, Derry Meeting, etc.) or shipped up from Kentucky.
