Rider trends in the ‘80s

No, no, nope… I saved alllll my ratty clothes for the barn and schooling at shows.
I’m absolutely floored by this whole “riding outfit of the day” thing social media has brought us.

Possibly unpopular opinion but I think matchy-matchy saddle pad / fly bonnet / rider outfit ensembles generally look kind of dumb (though there are a few teenagers at my barn who do an admirable job pulling it off … it’s just not for me).

Oh don’t get me wrong they always had on $500 smooth leather schooling chaps with the needlepoint belt. It was just the tack that was ratty lol!

if you have ever had to ride 8-10+ horses a day, 4-7 days a week, you appreciate the squishy, soft saddles. they helped me immensely with back pain and saddle a$$
