riderless horses and horseless riders?

Riderless Horse(s) / Northern CA /sonoma county UPDATED

Due to me having broken ribs, my one remaining project OTTB will need work/riding for at least 2 months… (one sold but the gelding is still looking for some work!)

rider should be experienced, quiet and sensitive - a quiet, sympathetic hand/seat are the most important factors  any discipline welcome.

horse:

6 yo 15.3 sensitive gelding. working 1st level - fun to ride. easy to sit , light etc.

this guy is a super fun and ridable horse.

located at a nice facility with a couple big arenas/some jumps and a riding track around the perimeter.

i would be open to the horses going off site for shows etc. also you could take lessons on them with my trainer or your own. they just need work. the more varied the better

if you are interested please pm me here

NorCal anyone?

I’m a horseless rider in Sacramento County. I ride hunters, jumpers, eq, bareback, etc. The horse I was training is now being sold and now I’m basically horseless. I’m a quick thinker, with light hands and a good seat. I’ve worked with babies up to 28 year olds(green and trained)! I am not a timid rider and can handle problem horses(bucking, rearing, bullying on the ground, etc). Spooky and hot horses don’t bother me; in fact, I’d rather have a hot horse than a dull one. I’ve jumped up to 3’3 on a pony and would like to go higher but I lack a horse to do so with. I can’t afford the cost of a lease, but I’m willing to work/train in exchange for riding time.
Please PM me if you have more questions about my riding/show history and/or you think you have a match.

Riderless dressage pony in Loudoun, VA

I have an adorable dressage pony, stands 13.2 but appears bigger, in need of a rider. I’m 6 weeks pregnant and was planning to keep riding her, but have had a complication and am on restricted activity. I am looking for someone to come to my farm in Lovettsville to help me keep her going. She is forward, fun and about 1st level - so many people have called her a horse in a pony body. I’m looking for someone with a good dressage background and not over 130 lbs. I have a lovely big ring and large field for hacking. Please no one with harsh hands or a difficult personality. If you have an interest, or know someone who might, please e-mail me at secondfiddlefarm@gmail.com

Katie and Pacificosolo I am probably right in between the 2 of you, lol with 3 horses that are becoming pasture ornaments. Life is funny eh?[/QUOTE]

I wish I was closer to you. Still trying to work out a visit!

Semi-riderless horse in central CT

I have a sweet, six-year-old appendix gelding who could benefit from some more rides during the week. I currently ride him 1-2 times per week, and have a partial lease rider who rides him 2 days a week. I’d like to find someone who is interested in riding 1-2 days per week. Depending on frequency, would expect payment toward expenses (my other lease rider pays $150 per month for two days per week).

About the horse: 6 year old (May 2003) registered appendix QH (sire was TB, dam was QH) gelding. Approx 16 - 16.1 hands. Currently doing hunters…still somewhat green over fences (doesn’t always want to go straight down the lines, learning how to move up to jumps, etc). But he is incredibly honest. Will calmly jump anything you put in front of him. Well schooled on the flat.

About the barn: lovely, family-owned farm that has a huge outdoor, lighted ring, nice indoor and a great atmosphere. Most of the boarders and riders are adults, although there are some well-behaved kids who ride there, too. Specific location info can be provided through a PM.

About the potential rider: looking for an intermediate or advanced rider. Although he’s safe and honest, I’d rather not have beginners on him because he is young and still a bit green and I want to keep the messages consistent with him (in other words, I don’t want to have someone on him whose leg is all over the place and uses the reins/bit to balance themselves).

Depending on the particular situation, it may be possible to show periodically, as well as take lessons at the farm I train with (I trailer in). Please PM me for more information and photos!

Houston, Texas riders?

Greetings,

New member here…I’m in the Houston area and am looking for…

  1. someone to ride with at Cypress Trails in Humble; it’s a great place to ride. I do the Ranger rides sometimes. I’ve done some all day rides on Arabians, yet do not wish to put myself through this again. So, they have other horses to ride…great…great place though. I do not have my own horse.

  2. if someone has an extra horse, and has some property, etc., I’d be more than willing to pay for some riding time with someone. I had a pony as a youth on a local ranch, but lost the pony when I was around 12. So, a major dream has been to have a horse again. I got close to this a few months ago, yet got laid off from work. So, what a let down… I’m longing for the country again…

Anyway, I’ve taken some hunter/jumper and dressage lessons since 2004. I’m a member of a Texas equine rescue as well. I love animals, and I believe I’m running my own dog rescue as well.

If interested, you may call me or email:

Horseless Rider in MA/RI

Here’s my situation…It’s a bit of a longshot but there’s always hope. I am from Canada and show on the A circuit in the jumpers and big eq. I’ve qualified for our regional medal finals, which will be held in September, but in the meantime I am moving into school [at the end of August] to start my freshman year of college in Bristol County, Massachusetts. My parents are allowing me to come home to show at regionals, but I will be horseless in the interim and would love to be able to ride before medal finals.

Ideally I would love to find a horse I could jump/take lessons on (I’d be willing to pay a lease fee and/or pay for lessons), but as I will be “horseless” in the truest sense of the word while I’m at school I would also be content just to flat…I would really just like to be able to continue riding and be around horses! I’d be more than happy to do stalls/clean tack/groom/set jumps/help out otherwise on weekends in exchange for riding.

I’m a quiet and competent rider with extensive show experience (have done WEF for the past 5 years, etc) and can provide references/videos/pictures/results etc. to anyone who might have a horse(s) available for me to ride. I am going to school about 45 minutes South of Boston and 30 minutes NE of Providence and will have my car at school so anything within an hour to hour-and-a-half drive would be feasible.

I am most desperate to ride before medal finals but would also entertain a more long-term set-up if something became available. I know it’s a bit of a stretch but any help would be greatly appreciated!
I can be reached via PM or by email at small.junior.hunter@gmail.com
Thanks!

Riderless Fancy Hunter in Md. suburbs of DC

Riderless 16’2" TB (big boned, looks like WB) available for on-farm lease in Accokeek, Md. which is 15 miles south of the US Capitol. Has shown locally and rated to 2’9". Needs a confident, kind, soft-handed ride, but wins everything when he is well-ridden. Scores of championships at local and c-rated shows in Md., Va., Pa. Unbelievably stunning gaits and perfect bascule over fences. Owner has trailer and goes to lots of area hunter shows. Pls. PM me for details. Thanks!

Occasional ride in Lexington, Ky.

I have a 6-year-old Andalusian-cross gelding who’s coming along very nicely in dressage. Unfortunately, I also have an intense work/travel schedule, so he’s just not getting the amount of work he needs to stay in his best condition and attitude.

I’m looking for someone to generally condition the kid a couple times per week. Consider it a free partial lease/ride share. Long trots, slow canter sets, and some limited, low jumping would be fine. To maintain consistency in his primary job, I’d rather this person not drill on arena work.

Showing at first level, he is balanced and soft, and a very willing jumper. Good on trails when with a solid buddy. However, he is also big, hot, and smart–he will challenge you. He requires a quiet, confident rider who will not be intimidated or try to manhandle him.

Located at a quiet boarding barn in the Hamburg area of Lexington, Ky. If a good fit, potential to show. References, trial ride, and release of liability required. Over 18 only, please.

Horseless Rider, Athens-Ga

Hi, I’m a student at UGA and am a horseless rider. I’m looking for riding time, english or western, and have mostly eventing experience, though am familiar/capable of h/j or straight dressage riding work. PM me if you’re interested, I have a current resume w/ my riding and work experience.

Love grooming, trail riding, trot/gallop sets, flatwork, cleaning tack, the whole kit and kaboodle and am really hoping to meet fellow horse people in the area!

Can provide excellent references and will happily do so upon request. Located in Athens, reliable transportation, and am free afternoons/weekends.

PM me for email/phone/references, etc. info.

You would be welcome!

I understand pony/horse dreams, I didn’t own a pony or horse as a kid but managed to get on a few times and it was a dream to be with them. However I never had good riding skills to be honest but pretty good relationship skills with them and they tolerated me. The greatest thrill on a horse for me was when I got to really ride an OTTB and she took me for a short but sweet ride, galloping up a hill and no dirty tricks just fun. I wish I knew what I was doing but I happy to have that memory. If she wanted to get me off she sure had every opportunity, so you have to respect that and appreciate it. It was truly a joy ride. I know most people do that all the time, but not me, it was always either a trail ride walk or later in life a few lessons and even my own first horse tole ME what he was going to do. So sad, lol. I’m so pathetic  but I don’t mind. I still love their company, love a kind horse. That’s why my 3 are pasture potatoes, they do need exercise, chubby boys that they are.

Horseless Rider in Tucson, AZ

Well, I should be there in a month. I am moving with my two boys from Florida. I should finally be able to ride a bit since my family is there and can help with the boys.

I’m a competent former 3-foot amateur rider. Former because I haven’t had the time to ride enough and take enough lessons to stay consistent at the height. I’m not looking to show or jump much. If appropriate it would fun to pop over some small (x-rails, 2 foot) jumps occassionally. I like to trail ride although I am not desert savvy (ie - snakes).

I enjoy working with horses on the ground and basic dressage. I understand riding leg to hand and won’t see saw your horse’s head down. My leg is weak, weak after not riding for awhile though.

Unfortunately I do not have the money to take lessons but am very modest and will take pointers from you! I’ll ride dressage, h/j, breed HUS, or western. I’m 5’4" and am a little overweight (170, ie size 14/16) so unfortunately I can’t do small or medium ponies, but a sturdy large on up would do.

I’m quite brave, but please no rearers. No buckers until I"m in better shape!

I could possibly go up towards Phoenix once a week.

Horseless Rider ~ Louisville, KY area

My horse had emergency colic surgery almost 2 weeks ago. So I’m horseless for awhile (about 3 months).

Does anyone have a horse that needs to be hacked on occasion (1-2x a week)?

I’m an adult re-rider. I’m decent but need more of an easy going kind of horse that just needs a little more exercise. Happy to do w/t/c.

I don’t want to lose my “riding legs” and with the colic surgery (and then my dog was hospitalized right after my horse was released) I don’t have the funds to take lessons to keep those “riding legs”.

You can PM me or send an e-mail.

Thanks!

horseless rider

Horseless rider in the Washington, DC area. Hunter/Jumper/Eq experience with a little xc and “dressage for jumpers” training. Still currently taking lessons as well as teaching lessons. Shown in the hunter/jumper/eq divisions up to 2’6" on ponies but has unfortunately aged out of the junior divisions.

I’m 5’2" and skinny so I can still fit ponies but also have the strength and experience with larger horses. I am up for anything (greenies, sour school ponies, the bombproof like, etc.).

I would love a free-lease, but I know in this economy that doesn’t work for everyone. Would trade some barn work for rides; or if you just can’t get to the barn some days and need your horse to be exercised.
