Thanks. The vet is a dear friend of mine. I really don’t think anything can be done, but I trust my vet’s opinion. If she thinks there is something we can try that may help, she’ll let me know, and if not, we’ll put Greta to rest. My daughter has the day off work and said she’ll go with me. Although we’ve had various dogs, they were adopted as adults. Greta is the only one we’ve had since puppyhood. We got her when my daughter was 8 - now she’s 22. It will be very hard to let her go.
Just a few notes to what everyone else said…
Be very careful with alternating NSAIDs, including asprin. While we can switch from one to another with no real problems, most dogs cannot.
Personally, I would not use asprin in a dog who is also on Adequan. They both have blood thinning properties, and the combination of the two can cause increased risk of bleeding. With so many other NSAID options with less risks with Adequan I just don’t think the risks of asprin outweight the benefits.
And Rimadyl is metabolized by the liver, while Deramaxx is by the kidneys. So while your dog may have an issue with one, the other could be just fine.
Side note: You can also use Cerenia for pain. While it is marketed as an antiemetic, it is also a potent analgesic.

Lots of good suggestions, but I feel I must point out that aspirin is really not the best thing for dogs or cats. I’ve seen a few studies that showed that in 80(the one study) to 100(a few others)% of animals studied, they found ulcers after aspirin. Not to mention the effect on clotting and whatnot.
Also, a poster suggested giving him a baby aspirin for a few days? Depending on the size of the dog that could be a huge overdose.
Tramadol is very cheap (you can even get it at your local pharmacy if your vet doesn’t carry it) if you don’t want to try an NSAID.
