Rita Crundwell--the saga continues...

The way she was caught was she took time off from work. They had someone working there temporarily in her absence, and that person noticed discrepancies, and alerted the authorities. Everyone was stunned when they realized how much was stolen, and who did it. If she would have taken less time off, or persuaded the bosses that she didn’t need a substitute, then she might never have been caught.

You have to have adequate controls in place. They didn’t.
