river boots - love 'em, but are Dubarry's worth it?
I bought mine as a treat to myself after spending a four day horse show shooting the pony ring in the rain (photography, not guns).
But WOW what a story if it were the other way around!

I’ve never tried Dubarry’s. I love, love, love my Dublins. They are so comfortable and supportive. I did buy them a touch too big and will go down a size for my next pair. I have some tall suede ones called Estuary. I literally hose them off when they’re muddy or poopy.
I wore them to work with my Ariat jean breeches today and will wear them to a driving HDT tomorrow. I do avoid stall cleaning and deep mud, just to keep them nice. I have some waterproof Ariat paddock pull ons amd some Muck boots for the worst weather and stalls.
I’m hoping to buy a smooth pair sometime. I also want one for work, one for horse and dog stuff.
I wish they would make a “cubbing” boot suitable style. I’d buy two of those, one for work, one for horsey stuff.
I can’t say enough about the durability and comfort of mine, they are really the best shoes I’ve ever bought and I always buy quality shoes/boots for work and play.
Mine are a touch too warm in warmer weather. I would love a smooth, less wintery pair for spring and fall, since I live in the south.
I get compliments on mine at work all the time, too. I’m a physician so I’m sure it’s an unconventional look.

I love my knock-offs!

I’ve considered the Dubarry’s but finally concluded they’re only worth it if that much money is a pittance to you. I could never risk $400+ boots in the muck and mud. And my $100 knock-offs do great for what I need (hanging around the barn, casual days at work, dog-walking).

I love my Dubarrys and certainly do feel that they were worth it. I have the Galway and the Clare. I have been wearing my Galways almost everyday to the barn for over 3 years and they clean up good as new - they seem like they will easily last many more years - as they should. They did take some break in time and I ended up putting the thin line sole inserts in mine recently. I haven’t worn the Clare’s much yet but I am confident that they will wear just as well as my Galways!
