Good luck with that - I highly doubt the family actually wants the details of the accusations to be made public.
Anyone who signs that petition should be prevented from ever working with minors again and anyone who sends their kids to train with any of those people better be 100% aware that if someone the trainer knows does something to your kid and your kid confides in the trainer and not you, the trainer isn’t going to believe them and is going to shame them out of telling you. Good times people.
Any chance the “Melinda Gates” who signed is the Melinda Gates? If so I’m super disappointed in her.

@bauhaus Very well said, and that is why I was so shocked by the overwhelmingly negative and cruel sentiments on the FB comments pages. There will always be predators, in all walks of life, but the degree to which it is apparently excused and normalized by the some of the people posting with influence in the industry (even if they don’t do anything criminal themselves) was horrible to read. And also an indication of why women didn’t feel comfortable to report what happened to them for so long, even to other women.

This whole thing somewhat blows my mind. The last year or two has become the time when many victims came forward about many well known people. The futures of the accused were decided by corporate executives, boards of non profits, the Catholic Church, congress and a host of other ways. A few even made it to a courtroom. They were also plastered all over the news media and social media. Were all of these signers having the same response then - innocent until proven guilty in court? Or were they supporting the victims who finally felt they could step up? Taking Me Too to heart?
I am completely taken aback at the comments on the petition and other places. I dont know if the SafeSport process is perfect (probably not) but at least it is a process. SafeSport has said that the permanent suspension or whatever its called is only used in the most egregious cases, so I have to believe that they had enough evidence to support the decision.

So people have now gone on the Anne Kursinski Riding and Jumping Mentor Facebook page to vent and give her negative reviews.
I’m not going to repeat the hatefulness… its awful.
I hope USEF and Safe Sport are actually serious about it when they say that retaliation and harassment of victims will not be tolerated. AK was a victim… This behavior by people is utterly mind boggling…

Some posters are here arguing things they read from Facebook comments, keep that in mind. FYI if you read something in Facebook and even worse, in a random comment section please know that’s not a fact whatsoever. Hard to believe someone would be so ignorant to read those and come here saying they know the details.
anyways… everyone complaining that SafeSort isn’t transparent. That you don’t know the process. Let me ask you, do you know the process in the legal justice system? Do you actually truly know, what the due process is of making an accusation to the police and what happens between that and the final piece of someone being convicted or acquitted? I seriously doubt the general public who doesn’t work in criminal law does. Yet for some reason you feel entitled to know the details of the entire process of Safe Sport. Think about it.
If you think it’s as simple as accusation- gather evidence - arrest - go to trial, you are seriously mistaken.

Ya I’ll just stick to trail riding. My list is still in work for those who asked, I will get it together this week. The barn on base is looking better and better. I can’t say I have a favorable impression of the SoCal horse community right now.
Everyone calling for transparency, realize suspected child molesters are arrested with their photos splashed across the news. The accusers are never named. Why should the horse world get special treatment?
Randall Crates, who is permanently banned, never went to trial because his victim refused to cooperate with police. The victim and Randall said the text messages were faked. All 2000 of them apparently. The girls parents also had diary entries about the abuse.
He appealed and you can find the decision online of why the judges, because this went to court, upheld the ban.
Safe sport filled the hole that law enforcement and the courts couldn’t.
@BigMama1 Andrew Temkin was suspended, he appealed and got a shorter suspension than the original life time ban.
Jim Giorgio is making noise about his suspension and he was convicted in court.
However, no other discipline (or sport that I am aware of) is having a melt down like the Hunters. I hope everyone who signs that petition leaves. Maybe then we have a hope to clean up the sport.

People who don’t believe what they read on Facebook and understand how this stuff gets investigated never thought it was a “consensual teenager one off.” I’m not trying to single you out but unless you have information we don’t, you are way too intelligent to believe Facebook.
That is part of the disappointment for me. I never thought it was a consensual one off with a teen.

That is the whole freaking problem!!! I know I am preaching to the choir right now, but there is still a deeply entrenched culture of toxic masculinity in this country with these beliefs held by both men and women. “Well, she didn’t say no so she must have wanted me, what else could I do?”
Right in the article they quote his brother-in-law who gives the standard aw-shucks-he-just-loved-the-ladies response.
Then you allegedly have a USEF steward saying women, like the ones in this article, “forgot” what they did for ribbons and are lying. I’m sure he thinks it’s consensual, too… because if you come on to a child every day for years, promise her the best horses, act like her friend, then she finally gives in to you one day… oh yeah, she totally just wanted you, it was practically your duty to sleep with her. :rolleyes: :mad:
