So, who pays the shipping on Michael’s new Land Rover?
If you’re talking about the ride of the day, it goes to the top US Rider closest to optimum time. The Land Rover went to Lauren Kiefer.

Well if you really want to kill your entire Saturday night, the complete individual ride videos are up as well!
Here’s the link (same one just posted above)
http://www.usefnetwork.com/featured/2016RK3DE/
Scroll down past the ‘main video’, watching the right side for the “search” box. That’s where you can find individual rider videos.
I don’t mind so much that the live stream spends more time on the leaders, knowing I can see any rider’s full round later. Good deal, USEF!:yes::yes:
Fwiw … the live stream showed only a few of Avery Klunick’s jumps since she was on at the same time as a leader. But IMO her round is well worth a look, keeping in mind that she’s the youngest rider in the field, this is her first 4*, and she’s on her Junior Rider mount. Except for just a couple of minor blips, she looks like a Rolex veteran! Oh well, that last fence was nearly a disaster … has to have one major learning experience out of it, I guess.
Mackenna Shea also had a nice round! Is this her first time? Somehow her horse’s name seems familiar.
Really enjoyed Elinor McPhail’s ride as well.
Who else who is down the leaderboard a bit has a round that you recommend is worth a watch?
Mckenna’s second go at Rolex. She was the youngest last year. Avery has the distinction this year.
FWIW, Elisha Wallace’s helmet cam of her ride today is already up on Youtube. She had a pretty good round on Simply Priceless, maybe one of the best non-big names.
Well, my dressage trainer and I were hanging out at a CT all day, and were planning on watching the live streaming but could never get it to work :(. We watched Lil Heard’s interview after her round on Share Option and she was over the moon. I can’t imagine how thrilled she must have been after her ride on her 4* rookie Barnaby. I’m off to watch the video.
Are they all up? I can’t seem to find any video of LCC Barnaby and I really wanted to watch him go but I overslept. Eventing Nation said he was clear with just 15.6 time and I wanted to be able to send the link back to my friend in Ireland (who had him as a young horse).

I want to watch too! Lil is a friend of mine and use to help me with my horse, that she had formerly competed. My event trainer was down grooming for her.

He’s going to let me drive it for the year. He really appreciates his fans, and he’s such a generous guy.

I wonder if he can opt for a cash equivalent instead or is that bad form? He’s probably won enough vehicles to open a small not-so-used car lot. I remember Meredith Michaels- Beerbaum saying that she was going to open a Rolex watch shop when she retired.

So she isn’t a Trak. What does FST stand for? It looks like a Verband suffix.
I watched some early goes on the live feed then had to go away and returned home to watch some of the replays. I am so impressed with Lauren and Veronica: what an elegant and confident duo! Lauren rides so quietly and pretty much stays out of Veronica’s way, which impressed me tremendously. Lainey had a great go as well and it was fun to watch her rejoice at the end of her XC. These athletes are so impressive and so brave. Hats off to all of them!
I thought that MJ was amazing. And he has another mare, full sister, that is supposed to be even better, along with Sam, in his barn. Lucky but well-deserved.
I also thought a lot of the rides were amazing. Lauren K knocked it out of the park today on both horses. She was so fluid with not a foot wrong or an uh moment, and I would put her riding up against MJ’s today, for sure. For sure. She has really matured and developed as a rider since her first ride at on Veronica at Rolex.
Let’s not forget about Lynn Symansky. She also had a superb round and fastest time among American’s I believe, tying with Lauren’s first 4* debut horse. She had the very unfortunate dressage test which put her out of the running. But dang, they were great.
There were others that looked amazing as well. Tim Bourke had a lovely go, Hannah Sue rode beautifully, Boyd and PDutty were amazing, and Buck showed a tenacity that only comes with his great experience and grit. Loved Matt Brown and the Socks horse, and I am a huge fan of Sally Cousins - her eye for distance is a freak of nature. I was not entirely thrilled with the riding of one of my favorites, Maya Black, when i saw her take some risks (going for long spots) that she did not have to take. But heck, she is new to the 4* scene and next time will probably be perfect!
Someone above made a comment about the Americans doing a lot of “pushing and pulling,” etc. I saw very little of that - a tribute to good riding and good course design. This was some of the very best riding I’ve seen at this level. Kudos to all! Twenty years ago, no one would’ve gotten around that course, with the technical questions and pinpoint accuracy required along with a big gallop. It shows the true progression of the sport. And don’t let me get started with the dressage. Ooo-LaLa, anyone recall what it was like the first year they introduced flying changes? Splat, Bam, Ruh Roh!
With no horse falls, if I am not mistaken. Wow.
It was very unfortunate that some had “off” days. Tiana C., Allison S., and Marilynn L. definitely had less than enthusiastic horses, likely due to the footing or just not feeling the energy… And there were unfortunate 20 point boggles that bumped people off the leaderboard, Tim Price and Colleen R (Loved that horse today! Wow!). But that’s pretty much the way it is at any competition. Ups and Downs.
I just watched a good part of Jung’s ride again. One thing that impressed me is that he rides with a loose rein a good part of the time. Another thought is that KOC was talking about Mark Todd’s elbows and how they are always moving, which she says is a very good thing. Well, Jung uses his elbows quite a lot in such a way that the horse’s head can be immediately freed when he does shorten his reins. Maybe that explains some of the “flapping” that we all noticed. Eventer’s elbow has always been a part of the sport, and the “flapping” may just be an exaggeration of that. He uses his elbows to keep the “right” amount of contact with the horse’s mouth.

Lynn Saminsky, Lauren Kiefer, and Holly Payne Caravello all had 2.8 time faults. Lauren Kiefer won the Land Rover for ride of the day so not sure how they determine the winner on a 3 way tie.
looked in trouble 2 or 3 combinations earlier
Why haven’t the horses had their tails bound up? Mud tails like you see out in the hunt field.
ML is being interviewed and said the horse was a bit meh, and the final straw - for the horse - was getting her tail muddy.
she didn’t look tight in that tack, face planted into mare’s neck a couple times before she finally came off. Legs were definitely not as fixed as other riders’ legs.
doesn’t arthur have limited vision in his left eye? I thought we noticed that standing with him in warmup years ago. of course, a one eyed horse can do Rolex (theriot’s) but that park question came up on arthur’s “blind side” - I was really rooting for Allison

Lauren’s ride was so tactful and textbook - 6 strides out half halt, 3 strides out sit & drive - Veronica looked so happy

I believe it goes to the highest placed rider in the event of a tie.

Probably who is highest on the leaderboard, which would be Lauren.
I forgot to add that I thought Sinead had a super ride as well.
I agree that Lynn Symansky did an super job with Donner, and agree that it’s a pity he wasn’t interested in dressage. She made a huge jump on the leaderboard, as did Holly Payne, from 60 something all the way up to 14th. Holly Payne’s jump was about as impressive.
Okay… I don’t want to be a sap, but I’m still catching up (I was riding this AM, and doing other things - SO glad that the replays are available)… but I just noticed McLovin’s ride XC and was watching him and he reminded me so much of one of my late off track TB geldings right down to his color and canter… Turns out they are very closely related… and is it coincidence RW and I have the same XC colors or what? Wishing him the best of luck tomorrow, I think I found a new underdog favorite!
I just rewatched LK’s rides and I have to say she is such a wonderful, tactful rider… She is such a thrill to watch.
Dang Copper was a beast. Buck really rode well. I would not have wanted to be on that horse!
Can someone help me figure out how many tb’s made it thru the course. I know there is a list of names and breeds somewhere. On a separate thread??
