Guess I’m ordering FEI TV…
I wish they’d spoken to Maya and Lauren. So excited for both of them! Hopefully EN or someone will get over to them.

Keep watching.
Michael Jung is simply amazing.
Also, I’m in love with Doesn’t Play Fair. Love scopey little horses!
Horse wants to be done already!
By the way, I quite liked the announcers over the weekend. They grew on me! Plus, I enjoyed the British sayings.

My fav, probably not British, is, “the stirrups are adjustable.” haha, perfect comeback for the armchair critics

Still catching up… Can someone describe what happened with CR and Escot 6? I don’t have sound and the replay only shows her dismounted and leading Escot back to the stables. Is she okay?
Colleen and Escot 6 both fell at the table before the Fox Den open corner, same as RF Demeter. It was a very big table and Escot 6 jumped too up and not enough across and clipped the back edge of the table with his front feet before skidding into the turf. I was right there and it was scary to watch, and looked more to me that rather than being tired like Demeter, he just misjudged the width.
It’s quite concerning as he had an MR last outing at The Fork, as well as having an MR at Plantation Field CIC3* last fall. Unfortunately the MR at Plantation was incorrectly recorded as an RF, which means it didn’t trigger the loss of qualification process after the fall at The Fork, which would have prevented him from competing at Rolex. There was another fall at Plantation Field, April Simmonds and Impressively Done, who also wre recorded as an RF and had a full rotational. You can view both horses falling on the Amy Dragoo photography website, now that she has unlocked all the galleries.
Escot 6’s fall this weekend also appears to have been recorded as an RF, not an MR. There’s no video of any of Escot 6’s round for some reason, and they appear to miss the fall although you can hear a jump judge say “horse and ride down.” It’s extremely disconcerting that we are lacking accuracy in the fence reporting system. What good is the loss of qualification system, meant to prevent possibly dangerous situations, if we lack the ability to properly report the types of falls?
For the record, I am not at all criticizing Colleen here, the loss of qualifications system is quite complicated and she very may well not realize that the horse should have fallen to it, had the fall at PF been properly recorded. I am extremely disappointed though that jump judges or events or whomever appear to not be accurately recording horse versus rider falls.
What do the resuts say about te short list for the Olympics?
Boyd
Phillip
Maya
Lauren
Hannah Sue Burnett? (Without the frangible pin she comes in 4th, with good scores in all 3 phases)
???
Dressage and Jumping both send the short list to Europe and, based on results there, choose the team.
What happens in Eventing between now and choosing the team?
DC - you bring up very concerning points. With another rider fatality this weekend, well, accurately reporting, recording, and applicable chanfes need to be made. I hate that it’s a rider like CR involved, I think she’s fantastic, but gosh what if she wasn’t up & OK? Our system failures would have been inexcusable.
Didn’t PD & FF ‘get away with’ one of these as well? Seems to be a problem.

That’s how I see it. I might switch Sinead for Hannah Sue.
But as they say, it may be a matter of picking the ones off the longer list who are healthy, once it is near time to load up and head for the airport for Brazil.
I was the jump judge at the fence that Will Faudree fell at and broke his neck. Similarly to CR, the horse hit the far side of a table (in the water) and flipped.
It was a no brainer to score it as a MR. I cannot imagine any fence judge NOT scoring it that way.
Perhaps there is some ‘appeal’ process during which the ramification of a MR is taken into account? [coughcoughcough]. But I cannot imagine it happening at the jump judge level. Our job is to “call it as we see it” and then make notes about exactly what happened.
The Olympics will be flat, glorified 3*, a dressage show. I’ll check with a Brazilian friend but doubtful weather will be a factor at all. Not a rainy month. I figure it’ll be a 3* version of the WEF thing.
PD sure
Lauren & Veronica sure
Boyd sure
Colleen & CR
Lynn & Donner ?
Sinead & Tate ?
Tate, Donner, CR can put in lovely dressage tests. Add Lauren to the list & send 4 women
Probably unrealistic but…could honestly work. I’d prefer these pairs aim for Burghley personally, not the pinnacle of the sport, too good of horse flesh to waste on a trek to Rio but hey if it’s your goal, go for it  Jung isn’t aiming to take his tops two horses, Sam or Rocana, though their trip will be even longer…

Over her years with Arthur, from the her very beginning with him, Allison has been told uncounted times by top people in the sport, including team selectors, that she needs to put her time and talent into a different horse. .
I do not know this pair as well as others on this forum, but I like to play what ifs, irrespective of eventing politics and realities. would there be other top riders that might have been able to bring Arthur along or do you think Allison probably took him farther than anyone else could have? I personally think he would make a kick-ass dressage horse – is that something that would be out of the question for him in the future? he doesn’t seem like the kind of horse that would help someone move up the levels…

Love her post-jump celebration!
I find it so tacky when the riders go on victory gallops after completing their round. Several riders did it, not just Laine. The only one who deserved it was Jung! Give your horse some big pats, make a small circle, then walk out. Acknowledge the crowd with a small wave if they are making a fuss.
Petite Flower, I love those ears. I wish people would stop making comments about Bucks weight. His shape is a bit different than many men, but he is physically strong, fit, and he obviously has the talent of a top rider.
Lauren, wow, what a nice ride on Veronica.

question: why wear the team coat on Sunday, and not for dressage?
They wear tails for dressage, and the team coat is a hunt coat. Their USA tails do have collars and patches on them.
I don’t think anyone else would have bothered with Arthur for so long. He is not a generous horse. He is 17 this year, so I think retirement may be soon in his future. He really has nothing left to do.
NO ONE could get more out of him than Allison. But I think she should have in the past and some of the top should show jump. I don’t know if MJ jumps Roxie or Sam in pure jumping shows or dressage, but I am thinking it might not be a bad idea. He apparently shows someone in those leagues.

So just want to answer some of this . Colleen knows it was an MR already knows about losing the qualification. This was the first thing she said to me when she got back and about dropping him back down for a while to one get his confidence back and two get the qualification back. Yes he did just jump up and not out . The rest of the course he was great and she said she was going to get him scoped to see if it is a breathing issue like Tim Bourkes had a couple years ago. He has the scope definitely he just ran out of gas.

I’m not sure why either of those horses would need to compete more and go to straight showjumping and dressage shows at this point in either of their careers.
Arthur is spooky, has always been spooky, will always be spooky. It’s not an experience or exposure issue.
As for Michael, he had three horses competing at above 1.40 at Dortmund FEI CSI3* in March. He has Tamarindo LS and Sportsmann S jumping in 3* GPs (up to meter 60) so far this year and a few 8 year olds at the meter 50ish level and it’s only may 1st…

I wonder if part of the reason why Allison has kept going with Arthur is wanting to end on a high note - they have had some significant accomplishments together, but it’s been a while now.
It also seems (understandably) that once a rider makes it to the highest level, they want to stay there, and only a few really have a string. So maybe staying at that level means making the most of what you have even if it’s “an abusive relationship” (Jimmy Woffords word’s, not mine).
Just musings…
