Russian competing at WEF

Yes, isn’t it awful how innocent people get swept up in the repercussions of an unjust invasion? Just ask the Ukrainians for more examples of the tragic consequences of this war.

Everyone is always free to speak their mind. They may fear the consequences.

Good grief. Enjoy that western freedom a little extra today, ok?

You don’t really believe this do you??? When the consequences for some in the past has been death for the speaker and/or their family? They aren’t really free to speak their minds as we understand it in the west.

As @endlessclimb said, that’s western democracy attitude.

And it is not just the Olympic disciplines.

The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), on March 5, has canceled all Russian and Belarusian licenses, and all FIM activities in Russia and Belarus. “… no Russian and Belarusian riders, teams and officials can take part in any FIM Events and activities.”

Yup.

There are thousands already arrested in Russia because they protested this war. There is no freedom of speech in authoritarian countries

Also protests only work in democracy because they get reported on and can help change public opinin and voting or pressure on politicians. In an authoritarian state the press doesn’t report and there is no voting, you just get disappeared.

in order to freely speak ones mind, one must actually have facts upon which to base the voice

i was speaking in context of Russian citizens and the current situation. deep censorship and repression of the media.

Meanwhile Haas (a US F1 team) is currently facing a massive lawsuit for taking Uralkali’s money, spending it on the development of their 2022 car, while at the same time dropping off Nikita Mazepin, whose seat was contingent on this sponsorship. This will be devastating for the already struggling team…

While motorsport surely is the most expensive sport, this is not always the case for equestrians from the Eastern block. The commies built massive horse breeding & sport facilities, which needed workforce. Many riders came from a poor background, started out of pure interest in the sport and progressed due to sheer talent, not money. They had to be very good riders though, because the competition was strong, get sponsors when their respective economies transitioned or move to the West. You can find many good riders from the east in Germany.
Again, idk if that’s the case with Liubov, but she seems very much established in the US. Her competing for Russia could be only strategic for getting spot on the national team more easily (than in the US). This happens a lot in Europe, and it is why you see some Germany names in the SJ teams from there (Romania for example).

No classes for her this week.

Mazespin is a shit driver and that lawsuit will be laughed out of court. This is a win-win for Haas.

… In a sh*tbox of a car nonetheless.
You’re wildly speculating unless you are familiar with the actual wording of the contract. Terminating it, even for force majeure, requires equitable consideration. Money paid for services not rendered still has to be returned from a legal standpoint.
