Sad News About Ukele - sold Equine Products to Smartpak

I just ordered my EquiVM from Uckele, got a shipping notice yesterday. Geez I really hope they don’t turn everything over to SP. That would really stink.

I’m on the pellets too. I’ve not found any other product with the bang-for-the-buck as Uckele.

Ugh, in the same boat WRT my mare not eating the powdered Copper and Zinc! I’ve been using the Uckele pelleted form for six years now :weary:

Gosh, I’ve never had any shipping issues with Smartpak, they’re great!

I don’t have issues with SmartPak, but I have recently started my guy on CocoSun (first the oil and now the meal) and really like it. I don’t know of another product similar to it (don’t want soy, he already gets flax in OHS). It seems to help with his itchies. I hope it sticks around in some form. I bought two bags last time. Maybe I need to hoard some.

CT pellets are the whole forage balancer, not just copper or zinc

HorseTech NutraMino is the same-same, and a bit cheaper.

If it was the Uckele powder she won’t eat, a lot of horses don’t like that added kelp, but eat the CT or HorseTech plain powders fine

Well, that’s certainly some news. I use 3 of their products that work great for my horse. I’m just going to go pout for a bit.

Well, she is very persnickety – she also gets Equishure, MSM, and Heiro - and there is often a little powder left behind in her bucket as a result. She gets an RB, so not much to mix it with!

you can try adding ground fenugreek which a lot of horses LOVE

You’ve got to be joking…
SmartPak is an absolute joke. I refuse to waste my money there after being burned more than a couple times.

Uckele has been my saving grace… No wonder they’ve been pestering me to leave a bunch of reviews…

Totally unrelated but how do you get your guys to eat the Poly Copper / Poly Zinc? Mine act like its poison. I can always get them to eventually eat it but I have to mix in a lot of concentrate – and they are all supposed to be grain free.

Soaked hay cubes or hay pellets.

That’s what they are fed. :joy: In their defense, the stuff does taste genuinely awful - I don’t think that forage cubes/pellets do anything to hide the flavor. I’ve been getting them to eat it by top-dressing with about half a quart of grain, but I’d prefer not to.

So I ordered both from Ukele and Mad Barn, same day (the 20th).

Mad Barn has already shipped my order (21st)

Ukele is still processing.

I did look and see that they have 85 items on clearance for those interested.

Also I have no idea how Smartpak will manage distribution to all the vendors that sell Ukele products (if they plan to) when they cannot even do simple shipping…

Also, there are a lot employment positions listed…hmmm

My two aren’t picky, so I’m no help. The Old Man eats bute out of my hand (idiot) and Shayney gobbles up SMZs just ground up in a tiny bit of grain (also, idiot).

While I’m not a fan of the company, look into Yucc It Up’s Hay Harmony, which is a pelleted cu/zn and I think biotin.

Edit - it’s a powder/meal, mixed with flax which might make it tasty enough

My horse sifts out all powders, no matter how inoffensive. Gotta stock up on Uckele pellets I guess! Ugh.

She HATES fenugreek :roll_eyes::woman_facepalming:

Yeah, my mare turned her nose up that with disdain and walked to the back of the stall.

She sniffs things like a dog! She’s hilarious – and exasperating.

IIRC, I shipped it to a fellow COTHer.
