Sad situations that are going to be happening too much...

I was getting that sinking feeling…Now, I’m just a bit numb.

Having known this person on the web for years…I have to say I am waitng for her to chime in before I want to believe it.

Goodness knows I don’t WANT to believe it.

I’m feeling exactly the same way… icky butterflies in my stomach right now

When did she leave, anyone knoe where she went? Because she’s been continuing to post on this board, all along, what, her horses are home alone and she’s gabbing away on a BB? Wierd.

And, her thread about ‘reassure me’ sounded like she was leaving them alone, and leaving them with food. Which we know wouldn’t last for long, you can’t just leave food in front of horses, or water, and expect it to be there 24 hours later. What was she thinking?

Bizzarre.

I see. She seems to have left around the 23rd or 24th, and as of Oct 5th, she had at least two more days with planned rides. There was an early post, where she referred to thanking people who helped her get down to WEB - and to those back home holding down the fort. Said she brought 800# of hay for them to eat. How many horses, I wonder? How many days? Sounds like two weeks, 14 days, my horse gets 8lbs 3x/day, and could certainly eat more, so that’s 24 pounds per day, x 14 days, so that’s about what, 350 pounds of hay for him for 14 days, so I hope she only has two horses at home. Cause they’ll keep eating at night, and all.

But she said “Thank you, thank you to everyone who helped get me here, and who is holding down the fort at home. Keep praying folks… we need it”

Either she has someone staying at her place watching over it, or its a euphamism for whoever is keeping her dog for her.

And as for the OP of this thread, it was a good question. Does she even know her horses were taken? I mean, she was still in Kentucky, when they were taken.

Might be home now.

Do you mean the times the news article referred to, and not that she’s at the WEGs right now?

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps her neighbors didn’t realize she was working different shifts at her EMS jobs, so didn’t see her home during daylight hours and assumed she was gone. But… that’s only a guess.

Maybe she intended for them to be on grass unless the farm sitter was gone? So the hay was for night time/when in the confinement pens? There is electric tape strung up in some of the new pictures, and grass… ??

She stated in the “reassure me” thread-“My horse-sitter will check on them… but… it’s not the same”

So it sounds like she had a horse sitter that was supposed to check on things daily. Maybe the sitter isn’t showing up/watering?

Does she have facebook that she checks, so someone could let her know what is happening at home now? Or does someone have a ph # that they can call her on, and let her know? I’d feel awful if she did have a sitter hired, and the sitter wasn’t showing up to water/feed/clean pens, and she didn’t know.

She has fibromyalgia.

Wow, this is nuts. Weird if indeed she’s at WEG blogging away on the internet while her horses get confiscated by animal control.

Can’t argue with the previous citation for neglect cited in the news piece, though.

Watching the video of the confiscation on the news link, I didn’t think they all looked skinny - the paint getting loaded onto the trailer looked fine, weight-wise. I thought a couple of them were perhaps just older hard keepers. But they all had “staring” coats (even with the winter fuzzies setting in) that indicate dehydration.

What the hell was that dark marking all over the grey’s chest?

What a horrible set of circumstances for PP and her critters. I can only hope that, as others have said, there was perhaps a large mix-up with the farm-sitter… and that PP’s non-daylight working hours, and trip out of state, have caused her neighbors concern.

Thinking of the horses, dogs, and members of the not-so Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.

This can be so crippling. I hope all the stress doesn’t make it worse, that sounds like the last thing she or these animals needs right now.

I feel sick. I hope there is some explanation.

We had animal control visit as the result of a spiteful potential horse buyer. There were no findings but there was a detailed (fabricated) “complaint”. So I put no stock in a “previous neglect complaint” unless I hear that it was substantiated.

I just don’t want to be that wrong in my judgment, that’s the truth of it.

See the thread in off course.

According to Perry, Wednesday’s seizure is the result of an investigation that began a year ago when the state received complaints that Ahern was not providing shelter for her horses, even in winter.

“There is a pending court action for her for cruelty to animals, but that has not been to trial yet,” Perry said Tuesday.

According to a court listing published in the Bangor Daily News, Ahern was fined $750 for cruelty to animals in May in Ellsworth District Court.

JoZ, according to this reporting, it looks like the previous incident went beyond the mere filing of a complaint/investigation and response to said complaint, and there was a fine assessed, assume by a court.

In my previous thread I referenced a “citation for neglect” which is not accurate. I don’t know anything about ME’s animal cruelty laws.

Yes, it’s her.

I know… :frowning:

I responded first, then read the whole thing.

I am saddened beyond belief.
