Sad situations that are going to be happening too much...

PP, I am so sorry you are going through this. I cannot imagine how horrible this experience has been, and I hope with all my heart that I’ll never know. My thoughts are with you and I wish you the best.
I should sit on my hands… right… but really. This whole thing is making me sick to my stomach!

What is sad and scary is the fact that PP’s personal safety, health and well being very well could have been jeopardized by all this bizarre-o internet drama going on that is blurring into real life. All the speculations, assumptions, accusations when really NONE OF US KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL about the truth of the matter.
yes very true, the poster on the news site actually violated one of their terms of service in saying what they did…they posted three times that I counted, before I could not get it to reappear for me…

another person(maybe the same) posted the EXACT instructions how to read every post she ever made here on a follow up news article…so everyone reading those news articles can come here and read every word she has ever said and every word everyone else has said to her

Were they searching for kittens in the trailer? ???
I’ve been lurking here - reading this thread & just felt like putting my experience on here.

Back in 2001 I was living in AZ and looking for a dressage prospect. Being originally from Maine - I was searching out some breeders in my home state and came across PP’s website for her farm. I was quite impressed with the foals she had and the pics of her mares and stud. I contacted her and, since I was making a trip in a few weeks, planned on stopping by. My mother lived in the same town so I had a rough idea of where her farm would be but couldn’t for the life of me figure out exactly where on that road she would be as the website portrayed quite a bigger breeding and dressage facility.

Well…I arrived in state and headed out that way to see the foals. Drove right by the place at least 3 times until I realize that was it. I saw sagging hot tape, weeds everywhere, no barn to speak of and junk everywhere. I did not stop in and drove back to my mom’s.

In 2003 I moved back to Maine for good and lived in Dedham about 5 miles from this ‘farm’. I can tell you the shape of the property just got worse. I never saw the horses out and about in the larger hot taped area (I wouldn’t call it a pasture). There are no lean-to’s or shelter to speak of & just the round pens which is where I always saw the horses. To date - this property is in awful shape. The round pens where the horses are kept look like they are never mucked out. I’ve seen some people say she has 8 acres and I seriously doubt that. If there is 8 acres, the majority is thickly wooded as the ‘pasture’ area is about 2-3 acres.

Yes, maybe the horses were not in horrible shape…yet. With no water it wouldn’t take long. Who knows what quality the round bales were too. Looking at their coat condition I’m not very impressed. I have a gelding and his coat looks nothing like these horses. Yes, he gets muddy and does not get brushed everyday but his coat doesn’t have the ‘ratty’ look that the seized horses do.

I usually give people the benefit of doubt but in this instance, where she does have a prior convicition and AC has been involved previously, it just sounds wrong. Especially since PP has been posting about going to WEG, riding and buying items. If she has been struggling perhaps she should have leased the horses (that way she could have retained ownership if she didn’t want to loose them). Just doesn’t make sense to me and makes me sad and disgusted that this is a fellow Mainer. (and Dedham isn’t really ‘backwoods Maine’ - only about 15 minutes to Bangor - a large city)

Please don’t crucify me - these are just my personal observations and opinions. :)
Wow, going back 9 years? Your story reminds me of how many people go to a “breeder” for a puppy only to find out it’s a puppy mill.

If anyone wants to send words of support, please feel free to PM me. I’ll make sure she gets them.

WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I mean yes we all realize what we post on the internet is there for anyone to see but that kind of behavior goes beyond snarky to borderline stalker-ish…

I swear the internet is getting weirder every day.

How is she doing? What’s the status, if known, of the animals?
Probably the same person who went onto the Bangor Daily News site and posted some really poisonous comments about PP, along with a link to COTH and PP’s screen name with encouragement to everyone who viewed the BDN article to come here and read everything she’s ever said. The best part was the COTHer in question didn’t even have the gonads to use their COTH sn. It is simply “acothmember”.
Man, some people play rough! The day COTH becomes a weapon for messing with people in real life, I’m gone. Love you guys but it’s not worth it. Hope the mods keep this in mind.

Anywhoo, here’s my point. The OP for this thread, Eli, has a home page complete with someone’s picture, identity, business name and contact. He/she seems to be or be connected to a realtor in Maine.

I assume this isn’t the same person as SayItAin’tSo.

I also assume the OP here isn’t the neighbor or anyone involved in defaming pintopiaffe here or elsewhere.

Have I got that right?

I can only assume that no one wants to defame someone on the internet with their own identity attached. Being wrong could suck, and suck in real terms, no?

After speaking with several people via PM, I am certain that the “journalist” has taken some “artistic freedoms” with that piece.

I have no idea what will come of this saga, but I am certain we do not have all the necessary facts to make the best informed opinion we could. There is more to this than meets the eye, in my opinion. Whether that information helps or hurts PP’s case remains to be seen.

Some of you are asking good and hard questions, which is great - I’ve got some myself. However, some of you seem to be enjoying watching PP suffer, and it’s pretty creepy. Who needs Halloween when we can watch grown people gang up on someone who obviously is having a pretty bad day/week/month!? It’s like watching Lord of the Flies unfold on COTH. :dead:
Kittens too! No excuse for that.
REALLY? I have spayed and/or neutered the cats here by the time they are 6 months old. However, we have a few wild kitties that know we have an open food bowl and show up regularly. So, would I have “no excuse” if one turns up pregnant? So far that has never happened, but I just noticed one I had not seen before last week. I think our cats go out into the field and hold up a sign for free meals and pointing the way.

As my momma used to say "If you think you should say ‘I really shouldn’t say this’ you are probably right.

Here’s a streetview of her property: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=dedham+me&sll=42.293564,-59.0625&sspn=36.274918,92.724609&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Dedham,+Hancock,+Maine&ll=44.650383,-68.620262&spn=0,0.022638&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=44.650302,-68.620347&panoid=hm5iQgkVMzCr6CB7FbS4ow&cbp=12,140.18,,0,8.16

You can also see it from above… doesn’t look like a predominantly wooded tract. You know, I realized that the news pictures showed frames of shelters without the covering. Those coverings can be removed and replaced, so maybe she has them off for much of the year and replaces them in winter.

my analysis of it was this (take it as you like)

they “know” her,either in person,or online…,
they have made it highly personal,a position they needed to win over her…
they were gleeful to share the news of this place with the “outsiders” so they too could join in…esp the neighbors she had mentioned here before…one of them was on there at the same time…
they were happy to say that they were more important then she was (she is this I am better)

just another illness…

That is getting really weird.
I had a cyberstalker once and it was really strange, kept coming with goofy posts, like it had contacted some of my 40 years ago employers in Europe and such, to be sure I was who I said I was.
I learned never to give specific information any more.
Stalkers have a loose screw, I think.

I don’t know what all is going on, it all seems very fishy all around, hard to decide who to believe any more.

Not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, but I think I have a pretty good idea of the sort of person “WHO DOES THAT”.

Some people have a void in their own lives that they find can be filled, however temporarily, by delighting in the misfortunes of others. It’s as if they gain some kind of validation by doing so - “I may be effed up, but I’m not as effed up as THIS person!!!”

I believe that is correct. Two different posters … one seeming to be reasonable (eli - the OP of this thread) and the other is very questionable (the Mods merged the threads and I lost track of the “OMG” OP poster).

Looks like 8 out of 10 set-ups around here. Especially if I drive an hour or two south into real farm country…

[edit]. It really requires a lack of basic human decency to do something like that.

WTF hardly even covers it at this point.

PP, please do know there are more than a few people who are not impressed by the “information” available and are still hoping for a good outcome for you, the itty-bitties, the horses and everything else.
